Re: Comic Book Cover Of The Day
Between the Art Adams covers, the back-up stories, and the newly added pages, each issue as an incredible package. My only gripes are that they only reprinted part of Giant Size X-Men #1, skipped over the two "Days of Future Past" stories, and stopped doing back-up stories with #44. Would have loved to have seen back-up stories for DOFP.

Action Comics #521 has the first appearance of Vixen, which trades for good money if you own it. It's just about the only "hot" issue of Action Comics from 501 until 583.

Man, I remember buying that issue new off the spinner rack. Summer 1983, damn I'm old.

It's so weird seeing Charles Vess drawing Spiderman, but those covers are absolutely gorgeous. I also remember he drew a Spiderman OGN,but I don't think I ever read it.
Vess is one of those rare artists, like Jaime Hernandez, who can convey a ton of information -- movement, emotion, physics -- with only a handful of lines.

^I'll have to look up the synopsis and ending n that one. I had it as a teen but remember nothing about it other than being disappointed in the $2.50 cover price for what I got.

Speaking of western comics, although Graham Ingels (aka "Ghastly") was primarily known for his work on EC's horror comics, I've always liked the covers he did for the Pre-Trend EC western comics as well.
(although they were before my time, I've been a huge EC fan since I was a teenager)

That was a really dark story... slit throats, East Germany in the 1980s, KGB...
