Re: Free Comic Book Day 2022 - May 7th
So there’s a new thing called Comic Giveaway Day on the same day as FCBD.
Went to one store today and stood in line for 15 minutes. Inside they had tables of free issues, I told the staff which I wanted, and they piled them up for me, limit of 10 per person or 15 per group. 20% off everything else.
Drove to another but it was also lined up outside so I drove on.
Stopped at my local shop, which had no line and no issue control, but crowded. Limit of five per person. They had 35% off everything except new releases, but that was because they’re shutting down in two weeks.
Planning to reopen elsewhere but nothing confirmed yet.

DC, Image, Oni, and and a few others still use Free Comic Book Day. Marvel, IDW, Boom!, and Dark Horse use Comics Giveaway Day.
Looks each distributor, Lunar and PRH, have their own program.
I guess Lunar got FCBD in the Diamond divorce.

Thanks to legal shenanigans in the Diamond bankruptcy there are still millions of dollars in back inventory stuck in Missouri (?) in some warehouse. Marvel and DC really don't care but it's killing the smaller indie labels.
