the old New Mutants comic book.

So when does the old New Mutants comic book start turning into early X-Force because of Cable?

Re: the old New Mutants comic book.

X-Force first appeared in issue 100 (last issue of volume 1) I believe and then they spun it off into its own series

Re: the old New Mutants comic book.

Just read from New Mutants 87 (first appearance of Cable) and on. All of that is basically a setup for Cable (and Liefeld) changing the team.

Re: the old New Mutants comic book.

Starts here --

New Mutants #86 - first Rob Liefeld art ("Acts of Vengenace" tie-in)
New Mutants #87 - first appearance of Cable, which begins the new direction the title takes

New Mutants #98 was still his first appearance.

Not sure what it's going for these days, but the books was probably over-valued when at its peak. New Mutants (with Liefeld) was a popular book back then, so it's probably not particularly scarce.

I can sort of see a dealer not wanting to pay more than $20 for it when he has one copy hanging on the wall (and five more in the back) at $500 that hasn't had any bites in over a year.

Re: the old New Mutants comic book.

I dont care if #98 was Deadpool's first appearance.

Reason why I brought up New Mutants and X-Force is because of Cable where the later issues of New Mutants started turning into early X-Force.

Then YOU had to bring up stupid Deadpool

Should have gone to eBay when they were still in the conscious zeitgeist.
New Mutants 87 still goes for good money on ebay if it's in high grade (VF-NM). Issue #88 doesn't go for much. Issue #98 (first Deadpool) goes for even more money than 87 and with the announcement of Deadpool 3, the book has gone up even more. Right now is a good time to sell as there are no cons and people are spending a lot of money on ebay.

The LCS was trying to pull one over you. If the book is in high grade he probably could have given you at least $60 and flip it for $200 or more.
