The Official Statues and Bust Thread

Re: The Official Statues and Bust Thread
Yeah. You may recognize me if you saw a guy carrying around a Baby Thor on Saturday. Love talking to Lyle too. He's a talented guy who like Ordway and many others from the 80's and 90's, can't get steady work for some reason.

I love the Ming but the Flash Gordon face sculpt sucks. Which ends up saving me money because I don't want the one without the other...

Re: The Official Statues and Bust Thread
I contributed to the kickstarter for this now I have to choose which paint scheme I want.
I originally thought I'd just go for the regular basic look, but the "arctic" variant has started to appeal to me the more I look at it.
Since I usually change stuff out with the seasons, I thought the white/silver scheme might be cool to have on display in the winter months.
They sent me a final notice warning to make the choice yesterday, but I'm still dragging my heels.
If I could get an actual picture of the production piece for the reg, it might be easier to make a choice too. All they have is the CG mock up.
There's a third choice where she has some camo markings, but that's the one I'm least keen on.

This thread hasn't been updated in a while.
Here's some new upcoming pieces that I'm trying to resist.

I got the first five Star Wars Mythos statues that Sideshow put out a while back, and was really impressed with the quality. They have two new ones coming out... Darth Sidious (Palpatine) and Asajj Ventress. Looks like I'll have to pick them up at $600 each to keep the collection going.

Seriously, these things are fucking gorgeous.
The previous five, Boba Fett, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Darth Maul, Darth Vader, and Gammorean Guard...
Only thing I'm not sure about is if the two new ones are going to be the same scale as the previous ones. They seem a little bigger (and pricier) and don't have the same bases.

Philipines based Legendary Beast Studios just unveiled color shots of their upcoming 1/3 scale Thor (around $1500-1600 shipped to the US).
I thought they did a phenomenal job with their Captain America. This one is even more impressive. Unlike Cap though, I don't find the switch-outs all that compelling. The classic look is more than strong enough on it's own anyway.

What is that, like 28-30" with the base?
Seems too big to just put on a shelf; you'd almost need a nook of some kind to keep it protected.

Between the base and the wings on the helmet, I'd guess he'll top out around 35". Full specs should be up Wednesday with the pre-orders opening.
I still have a Galactus that I bought straight from Sideshow (using a $200 off coupon
) that I think is around 33" tall and that's mostly all figure. I think the base on it is about 3" tall whereas Thor's here is probably between 7- 8".
I'd picked up a nice walnut file cabinet many years ago with the intention of using it for a Wolverine in 1/2 scale. It fit perfect, nestled in the corner of the room, but I had to send the figure back for QC issues and never got a replacement.
The cabinet still works good for displaying 1/4 scales and larger, like Galactus. Pretty much all the 1/4 scales need to be on an 8" riser to have any real presence though.
While I've seen some of this stuff housed in nice glass enclosures, I think most people just have them out and exposed on top of, or inside of, Ikea cubicles.

What do people think of these Enesco Grand Jester statues featuring Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman? There's a deal on them at this site, going by pricing on other sites. These are 1/6th scale statues.

I really like the look of Superman and Batman. I’ve seen Superman in person and was a little bothered by the small size of the Daily Planet globe. It should be a lot bigger.

I've seen WW in person at my LCS and the paint apps were horrible. so bad the store tried to send it back. The stars were like globs of paint.

Aside from the dodgy size of the globe, I liked the looks of that Superman.
Until I saw a close up of the portrait, which doesn't work for me. OMMV.
I never even noticed the odd pec until I posted this photo.

This was just put up for pre-order.

I'm really liking these $50 Diamond Gallery pieces. I've got a Rocketeer sitting on top of one computer speaker, along with a Cloak & Dagger on the other, and both offer a lot of bang-for-the-buck IMO.
If Phoenix's base is hollow like the Rocketeers, you can probably put an LED easily inside which will kick it up another couple notches.
