Does it have an 8-track player in the dash?!

For that price, it should have. So far, the only incentive they've have mentioned so far is a human version of Robbie Reyes if they hit the goals.

$350 for an action figure and a car is really pushing it.

Still looks cool as fuck, though...

I get the limited run stuff and the fun of this sort of thing and it is absolutely very cool but yeah, that's ridiculous. HeroQuest was what, $150 for hours of interactive fun with friends and this will sit on a shelf?! Yikes.

Its kind of scummy to make it a limited early backer thing.

Hasbro is out of their fucking mind. They’ve been promoting the return of Starting Lineup for a while and today they finally announced them and they are $50 each?!? These damn figures were $4-7 back in the day and that’s why kids collected them. But $50?!? Hasbro really needs to read the room

But kids aren't buying these. I mean I balk at the price too but that's par for the course with Hasbro just upping the price of everything they've announced in the last year or so, and I'm assuming these figures have to be bigger.

I am kind of curious, did they show a shot of all of these together? You'd think they'd have to make a bunch of different bucks because it would be super lame if they were all the same size.

I wonder if the NBA licensing as well as the likeness rights to the players is factoring into the high price point on those. I’m not interested in them personally but that price is ridiculous for what those figures are.

This is the only photo I’ve seen of them side to side and it seems photoshopped for everyone to be on the same level but I imagine they are different sizes. One thing though is that the ball is glued to their hands.

Kids pick up Funko Pops as collectibles the same way many of us picked Starting Lineups back in the day. This is just Hasbro greed and shortsightedness

That’s what a lot of people believe but no, the licensing cost and likeness rights do not bring the price tag to $50. This is just Hasbro greed. Compare this to when McFarlane was doing sports figures and the price is double of those figures. And then there’s the Funko POP and Vinyl Premium lines which uses the same likeness and licensing and their price is the same for the figures across the board and they are affordable and kids pick them up as collectibles

Hasbro probably pays a premium to Nike as well (which I doubt Funko pays, but who knows). But this is all kinds of terrible. There's the price, there's the NFTs, there's the lack of tattoos. If the balls are glued to the hands at least they come with a bunch of hands, but why?

And I'll admit, I did pay a premium for some enterbay nba figs (think Hot Toys) way back in the day, so I'm not going to lie, if they made some Clips or Bengals I might be tempted.

Wun-Dar, a replica of the mythical Wonder Bread He-Man figure, is available until 9/30/22 for purchase on the Mattel Creations site. The figure is only $18 plus tax and shipping.

For those interested in the real story of the "Wonder Bread He-Man figure", here's a pretty good article about it

That seems like a reasonable price somehow. What the hell is wrong with me?

fujishig 09-30-22 08:04 AM

Re: The Official Toys and Collectibles Thread

That reasonable price seems especially weird considering how they priced the he-man 4 pack. I mean that price is in line with the normal classics lineup plus some markup and it is basically just throwing accessories on an existing buck, but I would've though they'd milk it a bit more especially with the first run selling out so fast.

Not sure about the company producing this but I want it now. Preorder shows Sep 2023 release.

There is also a deluxe that comes with Laura Palmer wrapped in plastic but I am having trouble posting the pic.

Kaustic Plastik is pretty good in terms of sixth scale from what I’ve seen. I don’t have any of their figures though.

They recently released a Bela Lugosi Dracula which is really nice, but I’m not a big enough fan to want. They also have a cool Nosferatu figure up for pre-order.

Well this is really tempting to me. 20" vintage-style Super Shogun Mechagodzilla. It would go great with my vintage Mattel Shogun Warriors Godzilla, but oof, $400!

Oh, god, that is tempting. I have the Mattel Godzilla and the Mattel Rodan.

https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/dvdtalk...9696766b38.jpg

I might have to bite on that. I love those "Mazinga"-style rocket launchers.

When I was a kid, I had my Godzilla and Rodan fight a Super Joe Terron.

https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/dvdtalk...5d6b5c7049.jpg

^ And I wasn't the only one who had that idea!

cultshock 10-07-22 09:44 AM

Re: The Official Toys and Collectibles Thread

Nice, I never had a Rodan or Terron as a kid but really wanted them (I have a Terron now but no Rodan...yet). But my Godzilla got into a lot of battles with my Shogun Warrior Mazinga.

fujishig 10-07-22 10:04 AM

"Mazinga" style rocket launchers for Jumbo Machinders just makes all kinds of nostalgia flags go off.

Josh-da-man 10-07-22 07:29 PM

Re: The Official Toys and Collectibles Thread

Now I want a Shogun Warriors style Jet Jaguar and King Ghidorah, which, if Mechagodzilla is $400, would probably run over $800!

All things considered, though, I'd also accept a Shogun "Tricephalon" instead of the Shogun Ghidorah for the 1970s nostalgia feels.

https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/dvdtalk...e4d83444e8.jpg

Make it about 20" tall and 30" long, wheels under the flippers, give it two small flapping wings, fix it so when you move the middle head up/down the other two move in the opposite direction, heads shoot orange nerf-style fireballs...

Anyone have any preferred companies to buy clamshell cases for carded figures?

I am doing up a display and want to display my carded figures, I used to get cases from Zoloworld but they seem to always be out of stock and a few figures I want to pack up they dont seem to even offer that size
