Release day is supposed to be Sundays (tomorrow) but some stores release the books early.

Re: DC partners with Walmart

These days I'm lucky to find the past month's issues, much less neatly organized stacks of the current issues.

Re: DC partners with Walmart

Comics showed up at two of my local Wal-Marts yesterday but they were in horrendous condition. I don't expect NM but completely damaged is unacceptable. It feels like the vendors just shoved them into whatever spot they could find.

Re: DC partners with Walmart

Soooo bummed. I haven't been able to find decent copies of these books. I hit 10 Wal-Marts (yes, TEN) trying to find copies that didn't look like they were dragged across the freeway and put on the shelves. What's worse, they're carrying less books now so what's there is there. Three copies of Batman & Superman and only two copies of the rest.

There are 2 stores that haven't received their stock yet so fingers crossed they're in decent shape when they arrive. If not, I guess I'm dropping all these books. I'm neurotic when it comes to comics. Doesn't have to be Mint condition but they shouldn't be ripped and scraped to hell either.

Depressed.

I understand your pain. These books are tough to find in pristine shape all the time. I've had to pick up a few with the odd fingerprint smudge or dirt on the cover.

Re: DC partners with Walmart

Well, I lucked out at a Wal-Mart outside of my normal area. The vendor just put them out and all copies were in much better shape than what I've found in my area. Again, not NM condition but better than kick-dropping them into the store before putting on the shelves. The Swamp Thing Giant wasn't as good as the rest so if I manage to find another (better) copy of that one, I may re-buy. But, at least for now, my addiction is curbed.

I'm actually looking forward to these books breaking out of Wal-Mart exclusivity. If comic stores start getting them, they'll definitely be in better shape.

Any luck with the Detective Comics one? Still haven't seen it at my local walmarts

Nothing for Detective at any of the Wal-Marts I hit. I'm still betting it'll be released next weekend after Detective #1000 hits comic shops.

No Detective 100 page giants at any of the stores in my area. The only new thing I saw was a Shazam trade from the New 52 stuff that has a movie poster and the cover is a Walmart exclusive with Zachary Levi.

I live in the South with Wal-Marts surrounding me in all directions and have had no luck finding this book. Knowing Walmart, they probably have it in the back stockroom, buried under heavy cases of laundry detergent.

Re: DC partners with Walmart

The book hasn't popped up anywhere on DC's Twitter feed. They usually announce the books a couple of days before they're released on the weekend.

I imagine the Detective Comics special will be released on the 15th along with the other monthly books, right?

Re: DC partners with Walmart

I hope so. I hit Wondercon this weekend and a bunch of dealers had copies going for $20 and up. I hit a TON of Wal-Marts in the past two weeks and nothing.

Also, two weeks after general release, most of last month's comics are gone. Hopefully, sold. I guess reducing the glut of previous issues is helping.

Re: DC partners with Walmart

This more about Marvel than DC but again, it shows how shortsighted they are with the stuff that they put at Wal-Mart. Marvel has been putting out for a while these 3 packs for $8 that includes new books that have been released in the past month. All of the books in the front of the pack include a Wal-Mart exclusive UPC code, making them a variant to start with, but now, they are making things worse by some of these books having cover variants. The first one was 2 months ago, SpiderGeddon #0 and yesterday The Life of Captain Marvel was released with a variant cover by Artgerm, one of today's hottest artist. I'm fine with all of this except the fact that the packs are priced at $8, which seem overpriced, and that they only send 2 of each cover to Wal-Mart stores. That means the Artgerm variant is now being hunted by the same collectors that go to comic book stores instead of introducing these books to kids and teens that want to get into the hobby. The Wal-Marts around me have already been raided by scalpers (some of them comic book store owners from 50+ miles away) because the Captain Marvel Artgerm variant is selling for $45+ on ebay. Whoo-de-fucking-doo

I found new issues in stock at my local Wal -Mart, but the Detective comics issue was suspiciously missing. Since most Wal-Mart's are 24hr stores, I am afraid the scalpers beat most of us to the punch. Same thing happened to me yesterday at the local Dollar Tree with the Star Wars Rogue One Action figures.

Re: DC partners with Walmart

The new Giants are supposed to hit Wal-Marts this weekend (4/21). Batman and Superman #10. All the rest #3.

And, hopefully, Detective Comics.

I've actually stopped checking for the most part. Distribution for these books has gotten very erratic in the past 2-3 months in my area.

Re: DC partners with Walmart

Correct that, I checked again today and came away with a mint copy of Detective Comics #1. It looked like they had just put them out. There were probably 30 copies in all.

Did you find the book by the collectable cards, or was it stocked in another location?

Didn’t find the new slate of books, but also finally found the Detective yesterday. Usual location at front counters by the other collectibles.

All the new books hit my local Wal-Marts last night.... except for Detective Comics. Maybe next week?

Re: DC partners with Walmart

My deadline to return my extra Target exclusive Primal Agecopies is like tomorrow. So if you didn’t find it and think it’s worth ~$14 (what I paid plus shipping) let me know.
