Re: Action Comics #1000
Finished it tonight. Pretty much what I expected, a nice nostalgic ride thru multiple eras of Superman. Between this and the story in DC Nation, I’m excited about trying the books again, and have the Bendis mini pre-ordered. It was especially great seeing art by Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez (praise be his name) again.

DC must have short-printed the 80th Anniversary Superman hardcover that came out in time for #1000. Reviews have been really positive about it and it's sold out at many places.

But back to issue #1000. In my quest to fill the early Action Comics gaps, I see Action #1000 pop up a lot - with covers I hadn't seen before. Officially, there were 9 covers, and a buttload of store variants. So I started thinking it might be fun to collect all those variants (I have the 9 regular variants). But I had no idea how many are actually out there! One website has 49!! (and asks if it's missing any!) Granted, some are variants of themselves - logo or no logo, B/W sketch ... I may concentrate on something else instead. Although, there are a few I really want ...

That's pretty cool having that long of an Action Comics run. Some of the #1000 variants were pretty cool. I snagged prints for a couple of them that I ended up framing.

Bumpity! Wow, so much has changed in a few short years! I got totally back into collecting Superman-related comics, filling in the gaps from my years of not collecting. I now have a continuous run of Action Comics from #192 (1954) on.

About six months ago the local comic shop was having a pop up sale where they had a few hundred long boxes and you get comics for $1 each or fill a Diamond box for $75. I found this mint condition Dynamic Forces variant B&W sketch cover signed by Bendis with a COA in one of the long boxes. I ended up fitting close to 250 comics in the Diamond box, so I figured I paid about 30 cents for this one.

Beautiful! Thanks for sharing. I only got the main cover and the Decades covers. Did the same with Detective Comics #1000 but I did pick up the Midnight variant there.
Here's a list of variants with artists listed (scroll down). Not sure if this is all of them - https://comicvine.gamespot.com/actio...0/4000-666763/

Re: Action Comics #1000
I recently acquired another blank copy of Action #1000 with the intent of having my buddy draw on it (or "remark" as it seems to be termed) and list it on Ebay (and split the profit with him, of course). My friend has no connection with Superman, but he is a semi-well known cartoonist for Hustler - and I thought that might be unique enough to garner interest on Ebay. So I do the listing, being careful about what I say and altering the photos to hide the naughty bits. But Ebay rejects the submission and firmly (!!) states that I better not try that again! Yikes! I don't know what the offense was, since Hustler Humor is sold there, but I was told that I was violating Ebay policy. So, I'm going to just keep it (I was actually leaning that way after seeing what he drew, haha) and add it to my collection. Here's the uncensored cover - front and back - spoilerized due to NSFW content. (it's just a cartoon!!)

That a great drawing. Hot Action Comics #1000, amirite?
Maybe it was the "Hustler" keyword appearing in the Comics category.
Or maybe they somehow detected the "sexual activity" in the drawing. Any depiction of sexual contact or activity is prohibited: https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/p...policy?id=4278

Whatever it was, it was damn fast about recognizing it and stopping me from completing the listing. (and warning me not to try doing that again!)

Too bad Comic Book Men still isn't on. You could have brought that into the Stash, and maybe gotten on tv.

Spoiler:
It could be that someone reported the listing and it got shut down. Other then that the word "Hustler" in there could have flagged it or the picture indicating sexual activity even though it is partially covered. Ebay is not always consistant on what they flag or pull down and what they don't. I had some pre 1980's Playboy's which it says you are allowed to list in the regular magazine category and they pulled some of them but not others. None of them had any nudity on the cover or anything that would have gotten them flagged, yet they pulled some for some unknown reason.
They'll often allow nudity if it's considered "artsy". So old black and white photos from the 1950's or earlier with nudity are ok while a more modern photo with exactly the same content in the photo would not be allowed.

It could be the word Hustler possibly combined with the artist's name that's flagging it then. Sometimes when you list things like that it will get flagged in the listing process and you have to click an extra step saying that you state it is not in violation of an adult listing policy.
