Re: How many comics do you own? Bonus Question: How many do you read per day?
At the height of my collection, I probably had between 10,000 and 12,000 books. I've been selling them en masse the last few months. Literally just sold Spider-Man Vol. 1 1-98 a few seconds ago on eBay. I'm probably down to 6,000 books, but only about 2,500 I plan to keep.
I have no idea how many digital comics I own now, but I've been replacing about half of what I sell with the digital version and mostly buy new digital comics now, too. I have been filling in a few gaps in books I'm keeping though.

I stopped collecting years ago and am just a reader these days, Digital is fine and tends to be even easier to read then paper because I can hold a tablet correctly while paper comics I have to read at a desk to avoid messing them up. I also have no interest in taking up that much space for stuff that has little function.
If I did I would prefer hardcovers as they look better. Of course it's just more stuff and I would rather have thousands of comics on something the size of a dime then an entire wall of my house.

I know this is turning into yet another digital comics thread, but yeah, to me space is the issue. When I recently decided to buy all of Secret Wars and Convergence, what I wasn't prepared for was a giant stack of physical comics (bagged and boarded) that I have to figure out what to do with. They're not convenient to store, and they're not convenient to re-read in that format.

I've tried several different tablets and computer displays, they simply don't feel comfortable to me as I read comics. I gritted my way through a complete run of Miracleman as digital issues before that series was reissued.I also don't enjoy watching movies on computer, if that adds anything. I rarely watch video that can't be streamed to my television displays.

That's part of the reason I'll never ebay my comics. Even if I could make $100 on each lot I sell, I'm sure that would take at least 2 hours of work (listing, packaging, mailing, etc), then the ebay and PayPal fees, then the risk of bad buyers. I'd rather just work two hours of overtime and come out ahead, and have no hassle.

Though now that Secret Wars is ending, I'm tempted to pick up a few new series. But must... resist... temptation...

I probably would have tossed $10 or $15 your way for that set. Selling sets on eBay is about the long haul. Your target customer is unlikely to show up in the typical 7-day auction. You have to list sets for sane Buy-It-Now prices and let them sit for two or three months. All you need is one person that wants to read Namor.
