A JSA sale? My poor wallet. All these DC sales just remind me how much I loved the pre new 52 DC Universe

I haven't read much JSA since the 1980s, but hear great things about the Johns run, among others. My OCD wants me to start from the beginning and read all my DC books in chronological order.

Let's see, maybe 9000 books, read ten a day, in three years I'll be caught up!

Or do I do Marvel first, saving the best (DC) for last? And what about the independents?

And when is the last time I read ten books a day for more than one day in a row? 1979 probably. I think I need to live forever to get thru my backlog.

The Johns/Robinson era was amazing (though I think it loses steam). I already have the three omnibuses, but I'm still tempted to get them digitally. I wish they included even more (Infinite Inc. and Young All Stars), I would have bought them all...

I need to pick up Quantum & Woody must die. I also need to finish reading Priest's original run.

The first ten issues of Infinity Inchave been on sale before, but the rest of the original run isn't even available yet.

Me too. Loved the first issue, bought them all, haven't returned. Story of my comic life all too often.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

JSA? Oh, what to do. I have the entire run of the Robinson/Johns series in a mixture of trades and floppies, but I've been wanting to pick up the omnibi, as I really can't imagine ever reading floppies again at this point. But with this sale, I can pick up pretty much the entire contents of the 3 omnibi for the cost of 2. Decisions, decisions.

Does anyone want to sell me on the 2007 Justice Society relaunch? I bailed on buying new comics right when that series started and have never read it. Whether or not I go digital or omnibus might depend on how interested I am in owning that material.

majorjoe23 11-18-15 12:33 PM

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

That was the relaunch still written by Johns, right? It felt like a natural continuation of his run.

Thanks! I hope this is one that I resist. The IDW stuff goes on sale fairly often, and I already own about 75% of this on Comixology. What's left and what will be added later will probably pass the break even point versus future Comixology sale prices; but I think this once I'll just stick to one source for my Mulder/Scully comics fix. Wish me luck gang!

Are the comics any good? Haven't tried any, myself.

Another sale from Marvel until 11/29/15 with lots of Jessica Jones books, including the amazing Alias series, at $.99 each. They are obviously promoting this for the new Netflix series; anyone watching that?

https://www.comixology.com/Jessica-Jones-Sale/page/8850

Cool looking sale from Dynamite on Gold Key books, forty-one singles at $.99 each and eight collections at mostly $3.99 each. Sale ending date must be a typo, 7/6.

Podcast discount code of the week is POSSUMPOD for 50% off the first collection of Penguins versus Possums. Looks cute, I'll get it for, er, my daughter, yeah, that's why.

I don't know how old your daughter is, but when you said it looks cute... well, when I did a search, that wasn't exactly what I was expecting...

DC's weekly sale is on Frank Miller Batman books; four $6.99 collections and twenty-one $.99 singles until 11/29/15.

From Dynamite, a Garth Ennis sale until 11/27/15 that includes a Jennifer Blood bundle.
https://www.comixology.com/Garth-Ennis-Sale/page/8873

Rumor is that DC will offer B1G1F on Cyber Monday. Anyone have three thousand dollars I can borrow?

Please don't be true... please don't be true... loading up wishlist now.

Edit: DC needs to calm down on those older-ish $3.99 annuals... surprised they are still so high in price versus the same era $1.99 standard issues...

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

Do you know what's odd? The one series I've kinda been hoping for a digital sale on, just to try it out... is Archie, the new one by Waid. I never thought in a million years I'd be saying that about Archie.

Yeah, I spent the last two hours loading up the wishlist, and way too much of their backstock is above $1.99.

I think my big spending will be on Dark Horse, assuming they have their sale. I've got a lot of Usagi Yojimbo to buy, along with some Goon and Hellboy/BPRD.

Thanks for reminding me. Working on details to sell a kidney now.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

The thing with Dark Horse is that I'm spoiled by the yearly sale. So why buy anything at other sales, and because of the backlog, why buy stuff I haven't gotten around to yet if it'll be on sale next year too? The main exception was the Star Wars stuff. Not that I want them to stop, and I probably will buy some more Groo and maybe Usagi (since they don't seem to want to continue hardcover collections).

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

20% off ($55.20 total cost) a Marvel Unlimited membership, code is TREAT

Just got an email from them, very very tempting. New and cancelled subscribers only.

Aaand... gift subscriptions do not apply. Shoot, I would totally give this as a gift. Merry Xmas to me, I guess.

edited to add: mistakenly read it as $20 off, but it's 20% off, so fixed
