I'm not sure what Marvel is thinking charging $4.99 for new release single issues on Comixology; maybe print edition prices have just increased and they are keeping pace but that does seem unreasonable.

yeah, pay that same price in your lcs today and get both the physical print version as well as the digital copy included. maybe even a variant cover too (there are 100, literally).

If they sell the digital copy for cheaper at release, it screws over the brick and motor stores. But yeah, unfortunately for them, digital has basically taught me to wait for the sale, especially for initial issues (and hey, if there's really good word of mouth and it doesn't go on sale digitally, it's not like they're going to hold off on a hardcover, a trade paperback, and omnibus, and what have you).

I don't have a problem with Marvel charging $5 on digital comics at release. My problem is the duration of their new issue pricing.

Image, Dark Horse and most other publishers will (usually) drop their prices after 4 weeks.
DC drops their prices after 8 weeks.

Marvel though...I have no idea.
#1 of the newest Wolverine series came out in Feb of 2014, and it's still full price.
Avengers #24.NOW came out in Dec 2013, it's still full price.

I don't get it.

Are they called this because you have to drive to them? Makes sense to me!

Ah, mortar, whatever... :)

Because the ones made of straw blew away long ago.

I agree on the discounts, though, and I wonder if it has something to do with Unlimited... maybe they discount once it goes up on there? I dunno. I'm certainly not going to go back and spend four to five bucks an issue to catch up with a year's worth of stuff.

I'm sure you've all seen there have been several sales on Comixology recently for first purchase. I think right now the code FB will get you 50% off your first purchase. I've never actually made a comixology purchase so I'm wishing one of those great DC sales will come along. I wish I had this coupon code for the recent Batman sale or the Flash one. Anyways...DC sales have dried up. Have any of you read whether they'll still be doing sales? I'd love to get all of Snyder's run on Batman or Johns on Green Lantern at 50% off sale price.

Howdy, welcome to posting here! Long time lurker? Or did you find us recently?

DC does massive weekly sales almost every Tuesday, but I guess it's been a couple weeks now. One of the sites I visit has a guy that gets the sale info a few days early once in awhile. I'll post heads up here if I see it.

According to Comixology's 'FB' coupon code promotional fine print the FB coupon code on first time purchases will be valid until "5/31/15," which is an unbelievably long time so maybe not reliable but if it really does last that long you should have plenty of time to hold out for a quality sale.

Curiously which site?

New Marvel Sale is up, ends at 11:59 EST on the 16th.

Bendis's New Avengers (2004-2010)
99 cent issues:
New Avengers #1-64
New Avengers: Finale One Shot
New Avengers Annual 1-3

Also there is a bundle of all issues for $59.99. One thing to be careful for though is the bundle does not include the Finale, so you have to buy it separately. I'm not sure if this is intentional, or if it is an error that will be fixed later.

Thanks for the welcome! I've been coming back every once in a while, but only for this thread so far! It's great to have one place where the sales are being accumulated.

I hope so. The only problem with holding out for a great sale for your first purchase is the good ones you have to let go by! I hope when it comes, though its obvious.

I'd love to see another Flash sale. I'd be awfully tempted to buy all of Wall West Flash at 50 cents an issue. I may have to set up multiple comixology accounts.

Did you all see that DC is now also selling their stuff on ComicsPlus App by iVerse Media? DC has their own app, too. It looks like the digital comic world is gong to get more and more splintered!

Does anyone here post Kindle deals? Is pretty much the preferred device the Ipad?

Isn't DC's app just a DC-branded comixology portal? Or do they have their own system?

The former.

Of course, the one benefit of the branded apps: you can still buy via the app itself, so you can still use itunes credit.

Kindle deals are posted occasionally, but I don't check for or buy them myself because my digital collection is already too splintered.

I bought all the Ennis Punisher issues after I just bought all The Boys series. So I'm out for the month. Hopefully I don't miss out on too much.

Yeah I've never heard of Magnetic Press, though they do love their four letter names ending with a. Anybody ever read anything from them?

Marvel Monday is on the 2005+ incarnation of X-Factor. Issues 1-50, the Madrox mini, and 2 specials. I usually love Peter David's writing, and haven't tried this yet.

X-Factor is pretty great. One of the few books that has been on my pull list for a decade. Sadly, David's run is ending it about a month.

Yeah, I second, David writes the characters better than they've ever been written before. He doesn't get enough credit for all the great comics he's written over the years.
