New freebies in the main freebie page too.

And the Batman Day sale includes a lot of $25-35 collections for $5.99, including two omniboo collecting the new Tom King run issues 1-32.

Darn you, Trevor!

I've mainly resisted buying anything new since those Marvel blowouts, but I bit on the two Detective and two Batman Rebirth deluxe editions.

Anyone want to recommend Ego (the Darwyn Cooke collection) or either Eternal series?

Which Detectives did you get? I'm probably going to bite on Rebirth and Eternal.

I love Cooke so much I bought Ego in hardcover and twice in digital. The digital deluxe has a couple extra stories including the fun Batman/Spirit one-shot.

Darn you too, I didn’t notice the Detective deluxe editions.

I sampled Eternal and liked it enough to buy all ~50(?) singles in an old sale; but haven’t read it yet.

I haven’t read Ego, but everything by Cooke is a must buy from what I hear and what I’ve read so far.

Ok, sold on Cooke then, I do love his stuff.

I bought Detective Rebirth and Batman Rebirth, the deluxe volumes (which are basically two of the regular volumes combined, for the same price).

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

I bought all four Rebirth deluxes. I was going to get Eternal as well, but Amazon has a bundle that's the same price as the sale volumes so I figured maybe that wasn't that urgent. Annoying that Amazon hasn't matched the sale price on Elseworlds 3. Also considering the deluxes of Year One (which I've read) and Year Two (which I haven't).

Well I checked out the DC Universe service and I was right. If you want comics, it is not the place to go. Extremely limited selection and nothing from the past 2 to 3 years. I was so disappointed I didn't even bother taking the free week.

Yeah it's more of an add on to the sub than a full featured competitor to comixology or marvel unlimited. We'll see if that changes but he fact that the selection rotates doesn't fill me with hope that the library will expand a lot.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

It’s still a work in progress, but I’m cautiously optimistic on DC Universe so far. I’m evaluating it for three components; comics, viewing, and exclusive miscellany.

Comics
Still in beta mode perhaps, but seems to be the weakest link so far. It’s got a few nice runs here and there, but mostly complete holes or just an issue or two. As a DC comic almost completest, I didn’t expect to see much here that I didn’t own already. Still, I already found a couple new-to-me books, so it’ll be nice to get a free sample once or so a month.

Movies/TV
Similar to the above, where I already own almost everything, and wasnt sure I’d get much out of the service here. But I just realized that Young Justice was a blind spot in my viewing and purchasing history, so I checked it out the other day. Wow. Love it so far! Also, while I did plan to buy Batman: The Animated Series when it debuts soon on BD and digital HD, now I’ll just use this service to binge it. It’ll probably take me a year to finish these two series, so just binging these two series will pretty much justify my 15 month purchase. Plus I’m sure I’ll find other shows and films to watch.

Exclusive Stuff
The daily news segments might end up being really cool, but that could go either way, or even fall off the schedule. The exclusive action figures and other potential products don’t tempt me too much, but I’ll keep my eyes open. I hear they have already released some exclusive creator interviews, but haven’t looked for them yet. Looking forward to the new exclusive TV series, especially a show where “F Batman” can be a thing.

Overall, it wouldn’t be worth the $5 a month for just comics, or just streaming, but the triple combo makes it worthwhile for me so far. As long as they slowly release those two animated series I want to binge, and the new exclusive series come out, I’ll be more than happy at this price.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

I actually gave up DC comics because of the service. I am one of those people who have to have a complete set. It was impossible to do with Marvel and DC with the sheer volume they put out every month. Marvel Unlimited allowed me to read everything, so I got that. I wanted that from DC but I can see now it probably won't happen. I buy a ton of Image stuff, so the budget is just not there for the DC comics. I own all the classic runs, so I can always revisit them if I get the urge.

Anyone want my free month code for Marvel Unlimited? It came with Spider-Man (Ps4) and I won't use it.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

Many NYCC sales. In addition to the title-specific ones that are on the sales page, there are some linewides:

Image 50% off, code IMAGE, through 10/14, doesn't stack with the Walking Dead sale

Dark Horse 50% off, code DARKHORSE, through 10/8

Archie 50% off, code ARCHIE, though 11/1

Awesome! Thanks for the heads up. I actually bought the first omnibus a couple of days ago, but had no idea the others were also on sale.
