Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)
Weird if I go through a comic book store affiliate link all the Incal stuff disappears from comixology.
So are the deluxe editions of Revival worth the extra buck or two? Or just stick with singles? |

I can confirm that Walter Simonson Visionaries volume 1 is the updated coloring throughout but volume 2-4 are the original coloring altogether. That is odd.
Curiously where did you find this promo code? It seems like an unusually good deal and I didn't see it in e-mail. |
Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)
Comixology launched their subscription service, $5.99/month, seems to include indies, Dark Horse, Image, and IDW if not more. No DC or Marvel. I noticed that some of the included items/issues have occasional holes - for example, volume 1 of Incal is on 'Comixology Unlimited' but not volumes 2-6 or '5 out of 8' of the 30 Days of Night volumes are included but not the other 3.
Still seemingly an epic subscription deal. |
Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)
I'll probably do the trial, then keep an eye on how quickly stuff is added before deciding if I want to subscribe.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)
I got the Simonson deal.
My first actual purchase on Comixology, and connecting my amazon account seems to be working fine. :fc: |
Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)
So this just happened...
Comixology Unlimited For $5.99 a month you get unlimited access to titles from publishers like Image, Dark Horse, Valiant, Oni, Dynamite, etc. It looks like not everything will be available at once and the titles will rotate in and out like Netflix. I'm a little skeptical regarding the rotating availability (Marvel Unlimited doesn't so this), but otherwise I'm excited to start the trial. I think Marvel Unlimited is by far the best value in comics and I've been waiting for other publishers to get in on the subscription model. Now we just need DC to get with the program. edit: bah! I only looked up 1 post (damn you davidh777!) and didn't realize I had been beaten to the punch. |

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)
Not even remotely interested personally. I have thousands of dollars worth of purchased comics to read and re-read before I consider a rental plan.
But for new users? Yeah, never buy a comic again and just join this and MU (and I imagine the soon-to-be DCU). |
Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)
The more I look into Comixology Unlimited the more of a bummer it seems that only portions of many series are included; I like to binge read so it'd be frustrating to be able to read Love & Rockets volume 1 but not the follow-up issues. That makes it seem like more of a 'trick' to get people to try a series and hook them for future purchases instead of an up front subscription model (not that 'only' $5.99 is a BAD price considering).

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)
And it would make sense to offer older titles rather than new, just like Netflix, Prime, etc. do.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)
For $5.99 a month split between Comixology and all those comics and publishers is pennies. This service is basically a sampler to get you interested in buying the series. At the low price point I will keep it as long as they keep adding stuff. There is a ton of stuff I would like to try before I consider buying, so this works perfectly for me.

The DC Films page on Facebook is giving away 2500 copies of Rebirth.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)
Marvel/Comixology has a new X-men Apocalypse $4.99 collections sale (up to 80% off) including some newer 'All New X-men' stuff and a Secret Wars Warzone trade along with Age of Apolcaypse stuff, etc.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)
I would love something like Comixology Unlimited but it sounds like this version is the equivalent of Netflix showing you half a season of a show and then offering to sell you the rest of the season on Blu-Ray. No thanks.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)
I gave in and merged my Comixology and Amazon accounts a few hours ago; but it doesn't seem like it's transferring over books - for example, I got Batman:Europa when it was $4.99 on Kindle Storefront but despite being labelled as 'Kindle & Comixology' edition it's not 'unlocked' on Comixology? Am I overlooking something? The Amazon.com page clearly shows I purchased it and Comixology still wants $14.99 from me there. Maybe it takes a day or two for purchases to migrate across accounts?

Through Comixology is a 'Dynamite Crime Bundle' with 48 singles at $9.99 - Uncanny v1-2, Miss Fury, Sberlock Holmes, Ex-Con, The Owl... this has a lot of overlap with prior Humble Bundle and Groupees bundles.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)
Seems strange that Amazon and Comixology still have price differences on the same books. After all - it's the same company now, don't they use the same DBs? Wonder what goes on behind the scenes there.
