Yeah, Byrne hinted at a Superman/Wonder Woman romance several times in his run.
Here is a dream sequence from Superman v2 #5 (spoiler for size). Spoiler:

Which is really sort of weird when you consider that Byrne is the first one to jump up and down and complain about mature themes creeping into super hero comics. |

Rob Liefeld: ‘The 0′s are my last issues’ Is he talking about an Issue number or the amount of feet he will show in the issue?

Re: DC UNIVERSE Reboots in September, Same Day Digital Linewide
Looks like Judd Winick just bailed.
Judd Winick Walks Off Batwing, Leaves DC Comics, For Now Last week, Rob Liefeld walked off his DC Comics in quite a public fashion. But it seems that weeks previously, Judd Winick also walked off his final DC comic, Batwing. After he’d already walked off Catwoman. And had recently declined to write Green Arrow monthly when offered. Like Liefeld he walked off three books. But because it was incremental and he didn’t leave in a hail of tweets, no one noticed. A cartoonist who went on MTV’s Real World he saw extended publication afterwards, graphic novels like Pedro And Me, comics like Barry Ween, Green Lantern, Green Arrow, Outsiders, Exiles, Blood & Water, Shazam and Batman. Since the New 52, he has been writing Batwing and Catwoman, the latter bringing him acres of publicity. But it seems that editorial interference in a manner to that which Rob Loefeld describes, saw him decide to step back. Just not in a way that might prevent him working for the compay in the future. Winick declined to comment when approached. Batwing #14 has been solicited with his name on it, but I do not know if that will actually make it through to publication. UPDATE: As I was preparing this, at shortly after Judd had declined comment, it seems that he chatted to Newsarama telling them; “It’s with a heavy heart that I announce that I’ll be leaving the DC monthly Batwing. I’ve had a terrific time on the title and have loved crafting this adventure with some phenomenal people. Artists Ben Oliver, Marcus To, and Brain Reber have made these stories come to life. I will miss telling the tales of David Zavimbe, the Batman of Africa in many ways, but I’m proud of the work we’ve done. My departure is simply a time issue. I’m pursing a few other projects that make it impossible for me continue doing a monthly book.” |

Damn, I like Winick work and he gets a forever pass from me with Under the Red Hood.

Morrison... Liefeld... Winnick...
Should we start a pool for who the next guy to walk is going to be? |
Re: DC UNIVERSE Reboots in September, Same Day Digital Linewide
article doesnt even get the last name of rob "loefeld" right...
also why mention that winick passed on green arrow? its now held against creators if they decline to work on something? like thats the same as leaving a book. |
Re: DC UNIVERSE Reboots in September, Same Day Digital Linewide
It makes sense that they mention it, because he was offered more work at DC and declined. I don't think it's being held against him, just further proof that he's washing his hands of DC, seeing as GA is at least a higher profile book, especially with the TV series coming out.
Johns and Finch are doing a JLA title, not to be confused with JL, with some... interesting choices. |

For months fans have wondered about an image shown at the end of DC Comics' Free Comic Book Day offering from this past May. It featured the current Justice League fighting with several other heroes—some of whom, like Green Arrow, were hinted at being members of the League at some point. Others, like Vibe and a new Green Lantern, were just that—new to comics altogether or hadn't yet been seen in DC's New 52. DC Comics offered at least some clarity today at Fan Expo Canada, when they announced that "Justice League" will get a sister title—"Justice League of America," written by Geoff Johns and drawn by David Finch. According to DC's The Source blog, the title will launch in 2013 and will feature many of the characters from that image, plus a few more--Green Arrow, Katana, Martian Manhunter, the new Green Lantern, Stargirl, Vibe, Hawkman and Catwoman. "This is a very different kind of team book,” Johns said. “On first glance, people might think the heroes of the 'Justice League of America' stand in the shadows of Superman, Wonder Woman and the rest of the Justice League, but Green Arrow, Katana, Martian Manhunter, the new Green Lantern, Stargirl, Vibe, Hawkman and Catwoman thrive in the shadows. They're underdogs who have everything to prove and something to lose. They're a team of unlikely heroes who will help one another discover they're as A-List as anybody -- yes, even Vibe. Though getting there won't be easy. Why they're formed, why each member joins, what they're after and who the society of villains is they're trying to take apart will all be clear in the first issue when it hits early 2013. David and I are really focused on delving deep into what it's like to not be a member of the big seven and why, sometimes, the grass isn't always greener on the other side.” In an interview with MTV Geek, Johns went on to say that the team will be run by A.R.G.U.S., and each member will want something from Steve Trevor and "the other person behind the scenes that’s in charge of this team." The first arc will focus on The Secret Society of Super-Villains. |

i am glad GJ is writing it, looks \ sounds like it might be more of an America sourced team instead of the global JL. i wonder if someone else will replace finch on TDK or if they will just cancel it. its gotten better with the new writer, but it still doesnt really need to exist. |

My guess is Rich never copies and pastes to check for the errors. |

I agree. The latest issue was pretty good, but four batman titles is a little overkill. If Layman works out on Detective, that would be two stellar Batman titles, and there's already B&R (which I haven't read). TDK has got to just be there to push sales; there's nothing spectacular about it, IMO.
fwiw, i love b&r. damian is one of my fav dc characters and batman inc is not enough for that. give it a try! |

Batman had: Batman Detective Legends of the Dark Knight Shadow of the Bat Superman had: Superman v2 Action Adventures of Superman Man of Steel Man of Tomorrow (quarterly title) Spider-Man had: Amazing Spider-Man Spectacular Spider-Man Web of Spider-Man Peter Parker: Spider-Man Spider-Man Unlimited (quarterly title) Four or five titles is only overkill when only one or two of the tiles are any good. Superman in the 90s was the "triangle era" and each book was very good and had a very tight continuity with each other. The triangle era is arguably the best era of Superman ever written. Up until electric blue Superman in the late 90s at least... then it was all downhill... Batman in the 90s was also really awesome. Doug Moench on Batman, Chuck Dixon on Detective, and Alan Grant on Shadow of the Bat was just pure awesome. LotDK with its early "year one" type of stories was also good. Spider-Man in the 90s was pretty crappy though with Maximum Carnage and then the Clone Saga and then the completely forgettable v2 relaunch following the Onslaught arc. |

It goes back to the 90s when Batman, Superman, and Spider-Man all had four or five titles each.

Re: DC UNIVERSE Reboots in September, Same Day Digital Linewide
It's the popularity of the characters/name, too (hence, the ever-expanding X-titles in the 80s and 90s and the Avengers titles in the current day). Then you add the alternate universe titles (2099, Ultimate, etc.) and it expands even more. And then they'd have the months where Spiderman or whatever would go bi-weekly. Heck, I've heard that the main Superman title has been up and down but it still continues to sell pretty well. But in the age of ever-rotating creative teams and changing directions, what really makes some of these titles stand out? Adjectiveless Spider-man and X-men were vehicles for McFarland and Lee respectively, but the titles lost steam after they left.
The triangle titles were pretty good, but IMHO suffered from tight continuity. You'd have four different creative teams on the four books, but at time the continuity was so tight that you could tell they were really just marking time and hitting spots to get to the next issue. I think it really flourished after the Death of Superman and the books were able to focus on different characters, because at least it made each book unique. They tried after that to give each book a certain direction (this is the science Superman book, this one is goofy adventures, etc.) but I never really liked that. It was a precursor to the weekly stuff they did with 52 which I thought was really good, then crashed and burned with subsequent weekly series. |
