Re: 2011 General Comic Book Discussion Thread
I've already dropped several Marvel titles that have "re-started" with brand new #1's. If this DC rumor is true, DC is going to lose a ton of my money.

I finished Y last night. That was a fun ride, thanks to everyone that recommended it. Now, if my stupid Invincible trades would show up, I'd be in heaven.

Glad you liked Y
What's the hold-up with Invincible?

Oh, I am missing #6. I thought I had ordered it a few weeks ago, but apparently I didn't, so now I have to wait a few more days. (have most of the others already, so after I get that I can finish up through #13)

I have been reading the Lone Wolf and Cub series. I'm up to volume 18 and so far I have been enjoying every single one. I have read that the movie series is up to the same quality but I think that's going to be my next purchase.

This is something I've always wanted to read. This, and Usagi Yojimbo.

A must read IMHO. The comics gives you a great insight to feudal Japan and the samurai code.

I have been reading "Flashpoint" and so far, I like it especially the Deathstroke and Batman titles.
Has anyone been reading "Fear Itself" from Marvel? How's the crossover?

Re: 2011 General Comic Book Discussion Thread
I'm only reading the main mini-series. The first issue is well worth the price with a steady build-up. Issue 2 follows up pretty well but I was a bit disappointed with Issue 3 once things start blowing up. Hoping everything rounds out next issue.

Thanks. It seems to me that there's a lot more titles that you need to follow if you want to read more than just the main mini-series...

All-Star Superman TPB 1 was a good read. Need to pick up #2.

TMNT finally coming out with an ultimate collection HC series (I guess to coincide with the new ongoing?)

I finally finished Invincible through the Viltrumite War TPB. I absolutely love that series, and now have the tough choice if I want to start picking up the monthlies.
(for some reason, in an effort to avoid spoilers, I must have convinced myself that this was the end of the run)
Is the Walking Dead just as fun? I've never been a big in the Zombie genre, but I need something more like this next.

"Fun" wouldn't be the first word I'd use to describe The Walking Dead.
I really, really loved the book somewhat early on, but the introduction of the cartoonish, hyperaggressively-over-the-top Governor marked the "I can't read this anymore" point for me. I'm a little over a year's worth of issues behind now. It seemed like it was about to rebound when I stepped away, so I might pick up where I left off.
I really liked Invincible but lost interest during the Viltrumite War where it got all Geoff Johns-y with everyone being ripped apart, drenched in blood, and just...blah, joyless and miserable.
Kirkman's never had much of a grasp on dialogue, and that's been making both of those books tough for me to read lately.

I'm still loving it. But yeah, "fun" is not the word.
I think people have been getting ripped apart and bloodied throughout Invincible's run.

Just this morning Amazon sent me notice that Guardians of the Globe TPB has been delayed again.

It just seemed like with volume 12 that that's pretty much all there was. I know it's a war and everything, but it felt like I was reading Infinite Crisis rather than something I like.

And I sometimes sigh when I see brick walls of dialogue coming up. Still love these series, though.

I thought the Atom Eve one was decent (get the more recent collection, which collects the original Atom Eve mini and the Atom Eve and Rex Splode mini if you're a fan of the characters. I wasn't even aware of the GoG one.

Yeah, the first Atom Eve was meh (and I'm a fan of the character), and the second part of that collection was better. (I ended up buying both, unfortunately.) Worth reading if you're jonesing for more.
GoG is the one I post about every month or so after I get notified that it's been delayed.
The other Kirkman series I read recently was Astounding Wolf-Man, which you might want to try. Good read with some Invincible crossover, and a limited run so you won't be left hanging when you're all caught up on the TPBs.

I don't know if you have the comixology app, starman, but I got the first issue of Astounding Wolf-Man free there, then got the TPBs.

Re: 2011 General Comic Book Discussion Thread
I got another notification that Guardians of the Globe was delayed, sigh.
Blind buy from a local shop on a weekend getaway and found it a good read. Apparently there's a HC collection that's out of print, but a second collection just came out. May try it.
