Giant Taschen DC Comics Book!

This thing is huge!!! Or Paul Levitz is really tiny.

Love to get this, but I wonder how much is a repeat of what's already out there. I found the recent DVD Secret Origin of DC comics to be very lacking, btw.

Neil Gaiman got a copy of this, as his work is in it, and he posted a pic on his blog of him holding it by the handle built into the case. Crazy.

Nice. Leafing thru that, it actually looks like it is worth the money.

$126 at Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/75-Years-DC-Co...1555371&sr=8-1

Re: Giant Taschen DC Comics Book!

The size looks impressive, but the layout looks too formal and static, with a lot of the same oft-reprinted images I've seen forever.

For the size, it also looks distinctly anecdotal. I'd be more inclined to take $126 and buy up the three Les Daniels books on Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman along with the DC Vault and/or Comics: Between The Panels (another anecdotal tome, but a lot of fun).

I love Taschen, but this looks like easy remainder material to me.

I would love that Taschen book, but I can't justify dropping 125 bucks on it.

I have these two books and really enjoy them:

You can pick those up for $30 each.

New addition to their Marvel XXL series...yes, I know this says DC in the title but I didn't want to start a new thread.

Re: Giant Taschen DC Comics Book!

Didn’t even know there was a Taschen thread here! Although this one might be be better renamed to broad the appeal to more than just DC or even Marvel as Taschen does offer a lot of pop art books worthy of discussion.

I’ve had the Hulk book wishlisted for awhile, but a reminder, of course, to hold off on these until the 50% sales. Taschen’s next one isn’t until September as I recall from the ‘comic bargains’ thread. This one will probably be too new for it, but hopefully some of the earlier editions will drop that didn’t in the February sale.

Yeah, the Hulk book might tempt me for one that is not Spider-Man. I thought about the FF book but ultimately, I am fine reading digital on those. But I have to say, if you are a fan of any of these early runs, these Taschen XXL books are gorgeous.

Hulk likely won't hit the 50% off sale until at least next year at this time or even end of 2026. I can wait.

Still hoping for a RENAME of this thread, due to Taschen publishing an abundance of comic and pop art related books, but in the meantime, here’s a look at the new Hulk XXL edition:
