One of the more original costumes that I saw. It folds in half when he's walking around.

I want this bobble head when it's available.

Possibly NSFW. Slave Leia-on-Slave Leia action.

We met him at Anime Expo. He got kicked out for being a "sign". He was pretty disappointed with the way AX handled it. He was a hit at AX as well. We shot some footage of him at AX and Comic Con. We're editing the videos right now and post it once it's ready.

Here are some pics from Sideshow Collectibles. They have very cool stuff and, as you can see, it's not only serious stuff but whimsical:

Indiana Jones (this pic turned out cooler than I expected with the background)

Creature from the Black Lagoon

Nosferatu

Elvira

Alien (amazing detail)

The Tick

Anyone buy from Sideshow or Gentle Giant? Their stuff is amazing, but I can't bring myself to pay so much money for a statue or figurine or whatever. Probably because I know that once I start, I'll want a collection...

You should have picked up a gift card from Sideshow, which they were handing out for free. Monetary value ranged from $5 - $100. The one I got was a $50. Sure, it's only good for select figures (which total about 50 different ones) but it's still nice to have free money.

There are prices for everyone. Yeah, you can drop a few thousand or around $50. As much as I'd like to go crazy I have to limit myself. This is what I picked up this year:

The Crawler from the movie "The Descent". The blood pool sold me. #73/1000 from Gentle Giant.

Indiana Jones paperweight. There are 3 sets but you didn't know which one you got until you opened it. You either got the Golden Idol and Well of Souls hieroglyphics Tablet, Sankara Stones and Holy Grail Cup or a Krystal Skull. The little details inside the paperweight were nice. #2071/3000 from Gentle Giant.

Iron Man Mark II helmet. This was the exclusive and you can get the other 2 online. This sucker was heavier than I expected. #440/2000 from Sideshow Collectibles.

Those are sweet, but this is more my speed:

Of course, I'll have to buy it on eBay or some such.

Did you see the life size version for sale? I mean, who buys a life size Leia?

Masters of the Universe. Doesn't look like it but you could walk through Castle Greyskull.

From the Dr. Who booth. It made noises and the lights worked.

Not sure if this was 2 sisters or a brother/sister but he was a cute Edward.

Freaky Girl freaked me out, WonderWoman ....and.....Eric Estrada!!

He was just doing autographs. I didn't really look but I don't think he had anything specific that he was pimping. I guess he needs the extra dough.

Just wanted to thank everyone again for their advice, it really paid off. It was a great experience, but it was overwhelming! One day is just not enough to take it all in, it was like sensory overload. However, we were so exhausted by the end of the day, I don't know how the folks who attend the entire time do it.

The only panel I attended was the BSG presentation, which was amazing. While in line, Ron Moore walked right in front of us and stood there for a bit. My friend and I were kind of just speechless. My girlfriend chided me later for not asking to get a picture with him.

Got the DC Direct Batman exclusive, and was able to get it signed by Andy Kubert. He was really nice and said that he is working on writing and drawing a follow up to the Batman 666 story. I also picked up the Flash Gordon exclusive and got it signed by Sam Jones, who is also a class act. The only thing I missed was the DC Direct Joker, which I heard was sold out on Thurs.

Sounds like you have a pretty eventful one day. Good job for your first time. When you go multiple days, the excitement of the event keeps you going. As you saw there's so much to see, you just keep going. The adrenaline just keeps pumping. There were times I didn't go to bed until 11pm and then getting up at 4am (or 3am, one day) for another full day.

Now you have to plan for 2009

at con it was about $10

I saw Eric in the lobby of the Hotel I was staying at. Seemed like it was the hotel to be as I saw many other DC writers staying there.

Indeed, that Owl Ship was a pretty neat prop on display. The coolest moments for me were shooting an interview with both Dave Gibbons and Zak Snyder, and later having McG throw on a DVD of the T4 footage during his photo shoot.

Were you a shooter for EW? I was hanging out with some of the folks during the party on saturday; having that studio at the Hard Rock was a smart idea. I'm considering something like that for us for next year if we don't have a floor presence.

Yeah, that was me. Whom were you with at the party?
