I finally bought this and loved it. I don't have much else to add because it would simply be admitted DC Fanboy gushing and that never goes down well here in the "Marvel/Indie/Anti-Cape/Burned out on comics" talk Forum....oops!...did I say that out loud? j/k!!

I will say special thanks to Darwyn Cooke for getting what many artists don't...WW is a fuckin' Amazon and should be at least as tall, if not taller than Superman!

You must be reading a different forum because all I see is Marvel hating

Anyway, I dug the movie, but didn't think it was anything special. I thought Batman looked terrible. It was nice to see Lantern and Flash do their thing. I've never read the comic, but its got me interested.

They always get this right with Big Barda, so I wonder why that doesn't extend to Wondy?

Barda is supposed to be way bigger than everyone else (hence the name): it's her contrast with the slim, smaller Mr. Miracle that makes them work. Of course, Donna is Wonder Woman's twin (or something like that) and I've never seen people complain about her height relative to her fellow Titans.

Okay, this review absolutely eviscerates the movie.

I haven't seen it for myself so I have no opinion of my own, but the guy makes better, more concise points as to why it sucks than anyone else does as to why it's good. Seems like a huge disparity. Any retorts?

But see, Cooke even pointed out in the Featurette on this disc that he actually gets shit from Male fans who don't like his, WW is a big Amazon who's as big as Supes, take on WW. I guess they feel threatened or something.

I was never really a huge "Donna" fan so it never mattered to me. Granted she's been growing on me over the last year or so with all the 52 stuff.

I have to say I don't find it at all surprising that he didn't like the movie since he didn't like the source material. If you don't like a story, you don't like a story.

I loved the source material, I liked the movie.

It's impossible to please everybody when you're making a 75 minute movie from a story this massive, but they still did a good job.

The Blu-Ray wasn't as impressive from a video standpoint as I was expecting, but the quality of the extras made up for that.

It's still a little weird to listen to Stan Lee in a DC Comics discussion.

I like the movie but wasn't a huge fan of the comic. Loved the artwork but thought it was lacking as a "total package".

During the movie my sons kept saying Wonder Woman was fat.

Well I watched it over the weekend, and while it was fun enough, it was definitely a missed opportunity in making something that could have had more impact. At only 75 minutes, they could've easily added 15-20 more minutes to flesh out the story and characters which would've given it that impact and made it considerably better. They way it was, while I was intrigued from the start, by the end, I kinda didn't care about what was happening.

Also, I'm getting a little tired of all the DC animation still looking kinda like the Batman cartoons from the '90s - it was cool at the time, but it's getting really stale. I'm looking forward to that Batman anthology from all those anime guys mostly for it's different approach in the animation department.

Maybe you shouldn't have read that article before viewing this.

Really? I thought it was waaay different than a lot of DC stuff. I thought the style fit the era it was set in. Anyway, I could be wrong but maybe it looks the same to you because they use the same outsourced animators in Korean sweatshops.

Well, like bored pointed out, that guy didn't like the original story at all, which I kind of did like. I just thought the movie needed some flushing out, and it had plenty of room/opportunity to do so.

Yeah I was just messin' with ya. To be honest, even though I loved it I think you have a valid point.

Even though they tweaked the animation for Superman: Doomsday, that still felt like the STAS cartoon. However, with this I don't think it was avoidable since Cooke's and Timm's styles are so similar. They both employ that angular style to a degree, and with Timm and Co behind the animation, I'm not surprised the style is related to the old cartoons. That said, I think it was different enough, or captured Cooke's style enough, that it felt new and fresh to me.

Also, I'm really looking forward to that Bat-anime thing too! It will be nice to see a totally different looking Batman (even if he will be voiced by the greatness that is Kevin Conroy -- just so you know).
