I think I'd rather see the Miller and Lee Goddamn Batman as an Absolute.

Nice. My Absolute Hush came in a protective cardboard box within the mailing box. First Absolute/Omnibus I've gotten this way.

Okay... I can sort of see Batman & Robin, but that storyline is kind of useless without being taken in the greater context of Morrison's Batman run. Plus, DC seems to have fucked up what he was trying to do when the rebooted their universe with 52.
I would think they would release an absolute of Morrison's Batman run first... did I just miss it?

That Absolute Final Crisis is really a head scratcher to me... that series was pretty much retconned/forgotten a few months after it came out (the only consequence being the "death" of Batman), and that was way before the new 52. I guess they really want to milk Morrison fans or something. And who the heck is going to buy Johns' Green Lantern series in Omnibus form? I mean, I like the series, but the tpbs/hcs I have are good enough for me.

The last few Absolutes I've gotten have been in those white cardboard boxes... I think my reissue Planetary ones were.

Sorry for the ancient bump, but I'd just been talking about having the first two deluxe editions and gradually completing the set, and now this comes along. I'll probably pass on the size and price, though.

Now that they've jacked the prices up to $125, I hope they can get the quality control problems with these Absolute books worked out.

Nah... Who am I kidding?

I've always thought the Absolutes were sort of a cool novelty but have never really felt compelled to buy one for the price.

They are wonderful shelf porn, but not practical for reading in my opinion.

DC has been pretty erratic with their quality control. It's like interns put these collections together without doing any research. Lack of supplementary material, known missing pieces, occasionally suspect art reproduction- DC fans have come to know them well. It applies to their trades and hardcovers more than the Absolute line, but even the Absolutes have had a checkered history at times.

Saying all that I still cherish my Watchmen and Crisis Absolutes.

So after so many horrible collections of Moore's Swamp Thing run, the first (of 3) volume of the Absolute edition is now available, and it looks great!

Awesome, finally a really nice presentation of these stories. I love Moore's run on Swampy, so these will be mine!

Not an Absolute, but anyone picking up the massive and fantastic-looking DC's $500 Crisis On Infinite Earths hardcover collection? I want it but that is a lot of coin to pick up something I already have most of in some form.

In Absolute news, I see DC reissued the New Frontier Absolute for its 15th anniversary this week. Cheap at Instocktrades.

I picked up the Crisis set, half price pre-order. Same hesitation here, I’m sure I own 90+% of it in physical and digital. But Crisis is pretty much my favorite mainstream big two series ever, and much of my collecting foundation and positive memories are based on it and the series it builds off of. So after some hand-wringing, I bit at $250.

It’s still enroute. I plan to dive into it soon after it arrives.

I cannot imagine plunking down $500 for Crisis on Infinite Earths.

Or anything that wasn't written by Alan Moore, Grant Morrison, Neil Gaiman, or Garth Ennis, for that matter.

I've purposely avoided watching YouTube unboxing videos of the Crisis set because I know I will be weak and order it. I have a powerful nostalgia for Crisis that is calling me to buy it.
