Showcase Presents...Booster Gold?!?

Yeah, that's right. I just noticed this on Amazon. Scheduled for March 26, 2008, it's 624 pages of black & white BOOSTER GOLD reprint goodness. What is the world made DC decide to do a Booster Gold collection? That blows my mind. Apparently it collects his 1980's title (however many issues that ran).

If they are doing BG, I wish they would hurry up and do a Justice League Europe or even a Firestorm Showcase Presents collection.

Booster Gold vol. 1 ran for only 25 issues so I think this Showcase will include the entire run in one volume. I'm planning on getting this because BG's book was one of the "so-bad-it's-good" titles, IMO.

And DC probably decided to reprint these because BG is now starring in his own title again.

That's part of it. The other part of it is that DC's royalty structure on its 80s and late 70s titles are apparently a pain for DC to deal with. Booster Gold has the advantage of being by one creator -- Dan Jurgens -- so they only have to deal with him, instead of having to deal with 5 or 10 different creators.

I'll bet my ORIGINALS of Booster Gold (I have the entire series) ends up selling for less on ebay than this reprint b&w edition costs.

Sigh.
