Generally that's true, Superboy; however, there are just some things you don't do. You don't tug on Superman's cape, you don't spit in the wind, you don't pull the mask off the old Lone Ranger, and you don't kill off an iconic comic book character to replace him with one of the most feeble resurrected characters to make the icon into a fifth world god for an inevitably short lived story.

Yawn. Strike another title from the pull list.

I guess I'm just not plugged-in to the whole Batman Universe anymore. I could have sworn that Jason Todd was killed by the Joker in "A Death in the Family". I'm sure he was somehow resurrected, but it seems pretty riduculous to replace a dead Batman with someone who was already dead as well.

After reading about how Jason Todd was really suppose to be back, I'm pissed about the whole superboy punching a wall thing.

But this just seems really silly. I mean, it's not like Marvel is doing the same damn thing with Captain America.

Old dead sidekick comes back from the dead

Hero killed off in major event

Alex Ross redesigns a shiny new costume

Side kick takes place of old iconic character

Nope.. never done before..

Spoilers for Jason Todd:

Spoiler:
When Superboy-Prime punched the hole in the reality dimension thingy, it brought Jason back to life. Joker did kill him, but one of the consequences of Superboy-Prime's reality altering punch brought him back. In the editor's intro in the "Death in the Family" TPB is a statement that says to bring Jason back would be a "really sleazy stunt" and that was most definitely true.

The one and only time we got to vote to off a major character, and they turn that into a charade. I thought Bucky and Jason Todd would never be brought back. Of course, they even (kinda) brought back Captain Mar-vell. Can't wait for Uncle Ben and Gwen Stacy to show up, any other (major) characters stay dead and buried?

They used to say that the only characters that you can count on to stay dead are Jason Todd, Bucky and Uncle Ben.

Yep, so much for that. Granted, Uncle Ben is from an alternate universe. Actually, I stopped reading Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man because Peter David's writing had become so horrible, so maybe that abortion of a storyline has been dropped by now.

Update from Comic Book Resources. It sounds like Warner execs smartly stepped in (this may be the one time that I side with corporate over creative at DC):

"Oh and Dead Batman/Todd Batman/God Bruce Wayne? So not happening. You can still expect a status-challenging new scenario, still expect Alex Ross covers and designs, still expect some intricately complex yet instantly entertaining Morrisonia, just, expect something else. Did Internet reaction affect this? Not one jot it seems. All decisions are taking place at a much higher level, and Warner Bros. have made their feelings known.

Of course, from such bedlam and mayhem, often comes inspired madness and creativity. Right now, the place is reminiscent of Jemas era Marvel – no one knows what to do or what is expected of them. Some creators have expressed despair to me, others see an opportunity to do something fresh and exciting in 2008. They are trying lots of things. Some things will stick. Some things will stink. But some will shine brightly."

You know, I was all about the Dead Trinity (if you will), and was really surprised at these characters being brought back. However, both the sidekick's stories since coming back have been really good so I can't say I'm upset or angry at their returns. Alright, Jason Todd's story might be a little lame now (I'm not reading it), but the Red Hood stuff right before OYL was awesome, and Captain America has been pretty much universally praised. I guess I can't get worked up at these people being brought back, when EVERYTHING, in comics is recycled, rehashed, and brought back again ten times over. It's obvious now that nothing is "sacred" in mainstream comics, and I'm not convinced that it should be anymore.

I don't really follow comics regularly, so could someone explain to me what this "fifth world god" thing is about?

When I clicked on this thread, I hadn't had any update on the Jason Todd thing since Death in the Family (shows how much I've been paying attention to comics). Seems like a weak way to bring him back. But this is the comic biz after all.

This the problem for superhero comics, they don't let the story end.

Batman will keep going till 100th anniversity, and will keep be revived, or fake his death 1000x over.

Let the man retire already. LOL!

I think Grant has some balls to do something about this during Final Crisis.
