Cheap Graphic Novels is having a 50% off sale on over 600 Marvel Epic Collections, Masterworks, and Omnibi.

I just spent over $250. They've become my go-to site for trades and hardcovers.

https://cheapgraphicnovels.com/marvel-sale-2024/

I've bought a few things from their Nick and Dent specials, and have found that the damage is usually very, very minor.

Shipping time probably depends on where you live (they're in SoCal), but their deals are great and they're totally reliable.

They are fairly popular on the Omnibus Reddit.

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals

So, this is definitely NOT a hot deal or bargain, but I was curious if anyone here had experience with the Fanhome company that does a lot of various subscription services. I am not into building models so I have no interest in that, but they do have a cool looking Batman subscription series for hardback books that have piqued my interest. My issues are that it will be pretty damn expensive once it is all said and done, and the other worry is if you get halfway into the subscription, and they go bankrupt like I heard the prior Batman Eaglemoss books did before it was finished.

The books look really nice, and I know you can get them all cheaper separately blah, blah blah but that kinda takes the fun away from something like this.

Just curious what anyone thinks about this particular set or company if you have had any experience with them.

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals

I've seen that Fanhome ad a lot but never got around to looking into it as I've been avoiding physical purchases for a while now. But a little sleuthing shows that Fanhome is actually the successor to the Eaglemoss offer you mention.

I assume you pay per month, so worst case is you have a partial collection with a silly spine image?

Looks cool as heck and also expensive as heck when all is said and done. Batman is probably popular enough for them to pull off many volumes. I'd be more worried if they were using any other character.

You would think DC could put together an omnibus collecting the vast majority of her appearances (outside of maybe Justice League Europe) in one swoop.

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals

Target's semi-regular Buy 3 get the Third one free sale has begun on comic book hardcovers and omnibuses. Kind of a joke as most of the more desireable omnibuses sold out in like 1 minute from when the sale began at 3 AM. I was going to grab the fairly new Superman Triangle Years Omnibus which was in stock on Saturday. Even waking up at 3:30 AM, it was already gone.

And word to the wise - I ordered the Immortal Hulk omnibus off Amazon. Got a copy that has been through the ringer a couple times. Will likely return it and hope for a better copy.

If you didn't get in on the Kickstarter for the entire set, the first G.I. Joe compendium came out this week.

It's on sale for half price at InstockTrades for about another day at $32.49. Huge compendium patterned after those softcover Invincible compendiums. Collects the first fifty issues of the classic 1980s Marvel series.

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals

I looked this up at Cheap Graphic Novels (where it’s more expensive) and noticed that they also have pre-orders up for the Kickstarter box editions with all the stretch goals for $300. I haven’t really been following the Kickstarter, so was it planned that certain retailers would have a few sets? Or are they just selling sets they ordered at cost, much like anyone could? I wasn’t a big Joe reader as a kid, but might try that paperback at IST for kicks.

I'm just going to quote myself for posterity here since no one seemed to believe me when I said back in June that these would be available for cheap.

They had that up when the kickstarter was going and yes they did get some kind of retailer deal on the sets. The caveat is that they probably will not be able to provide the digital version, which is why I passed.

Just FYI, www.instocktrades.com is running a rare coupon for an extra 3% off today and tomorrow with the code "halloween."

I know 3% doesn't sound like much but they usually have the best prices on the interwebs so anything helps!

Might be time to get that Marvel vs. DC Omni (I can't believe the regular version's cover is so much better, and it's not like I don't like Jim Lee...)

That is exactly what I pulled the trigger on. Perez version of course. I don't dislike Jim Lee but that cover looks like shit. Too damn busy for my taste.

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals

It's being printed by DC and early reviews are glowing about the DC Vs Marvel omnibus. They had to pulp the entire Amalgam Omnibus' first printing due to printer errors, so that was pushed back a couple months.

Given its precarious licensing situation with both companies, buy it sooner rather than later. Like most others, I picked up the Perez cover.

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals

I remember reading the Amalgam comics when they first came out and wasn't really impressed. A similar concept was Stan Lee Imagines the DC Universe if I recall correctly, right?

I had that Stan Lee omnibus and eventually got rid of it because it was just so damn bad. I have no memory of how good or bad the Amalgam comics were now. Any opinions?

Kinda weird that the Perez cover is being used for this first omnibus, as I remember that art being used for the cover of a TPB of the DV Versus Marvel mini-series that I once owned, and that series isn't even collected in this first omnibus but the Amalgam Omnibus. Talk about confusing.

I read somewhere that the upfront decision that there will be only one printing is what is making this a possibly rare release. I guess that is due to the mentioned licensing situation?

I planned on getting this first release for the nostalgia of the early crossover years (yes, I remember that the stories were lame) but haven't decided on the Amalgam release. I remember not being that impressed with the DC Vs. Marvel mini-series. But again, it has been awhile.

Any thoughts?

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals

Amalgam issues have good art, but they sound more fun in theory than actual practice. I remember buying all those issues off the shelf. Considering how little impact they had after release since the characters are stuck in a permanent quasi-legal limbo (both Marvel and DC co-own the new characters), I'm not sure it's an essential purchase. Maybe sample a few of the Amalgam Age back issues? Many are dirt cheap.

Many people are hoping JLA vs Avengers has been purposely left out of the DC vs Marvel omnibus for an absolute edition in the next couple years. The original has been out of print for many years and goes for big money these days.

I didn't know about that DC/Marvel omni and now I want it.

I have no idea what the Amalgam thing is. I looked it up, and I have no idea what any of those series/issues are.

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals

I wasn't a huge fan of Amalgam, and I'll readily admit that the relative rarity of it being in print is what is tempting me to get it (when it's out).

If someone is looking for other great 80s stuff, the first two Rom omniboo are also pretty cheap (but only the first Micronauts one)

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals

I’ve had that DC Marvel book in multiple carts since the weekend looking for a decent deal. IST didn’t even have it listed until very recently. Couldn’t get the price down enough at the other sites (Organic, CGN, even Amazon) due to various combos of asking price, no free shipping, and tax, but IST with that coupon is right where I wanted it to be. I’m not the biggest fan of the crossover stuff, and only read a couple as a kid, but the novelty and potential resale down the road if I don’t decide to keep it, makes it kind of a no-brainer.

IST doesn't do preorders, hence the name...
