DC has also released a similar deluxe box set for Blackest Night. I picked my Crisis set up from Instocktrades last year, mostly because I was worried about packaging the huge box for shipment. It's incredibly impressive in person.
It did briefly appear in the Buy 2 Get One Free sale on Amazon. The cheapest I've ever seen it go for was $180 on eBay from a British seller for slightly damaged units.

Not a bargain per se, but Marvel/DC fans should swing by their local Hobby Lobby once in a while. They have a whole section dedicated to Marvel/DC wall art and framed items. Every so often the section goes on a blanket 50% off sale.

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals
Probably announced that because Instock Trades and Tales of Wonder announced that their Marvel discounts were going from 42% to 38%.

Yeah, I've been using Tales of Wonder and Cheap Graphic Novels for about 50% of my trades and hardcover collections. (The rest I buy from brick and mortar stores, ebay, or Amazon.)
I can live with 38% off. That's still great pricing. The lowest I can get at local stores is one that does 30% off.
I pretty much figured that discounts would change a little with Marvel's new distribution set-up.

I did notice Barnes had reduced the amount of DC/Marvel inventory by several shelves since I had last visited in November.

It's 50% off all hardcovers in the store, not just manga and graphic novels. I think the sale lasts through tomorrow. The one location I visited today had been already stripped of most interesting graphic novels. I don't know if Barnes pulled the better stuff before the sale went live or everything got cherrypicked.

I was at the Duluth location, and the person I spoke to said that store's sale was extended through tomorrow due to the snow we got, so not sure if other stores will be extended.
I find B&N lacking with their selection in general (to be fair, there are far more titles than they could possibly stock, and they do mix genres and publishers-- unless you like Batman; shit-tons of Batman compared to the rest).

I went to BN today and got some Diary of a Wimpy Kid/Dog Man stuff for my kids, and Invisible Men: The Trailblazing Black Artists or Comic Books for myself.

I hadn’t been into B&N since the summer and man, the store has changed immensely. The Funko POP area was decimated and now there are less than 20 POPs available. Same with the stuff that B&N used to get from Diamond. It seems that they are no longer selling statues and other comic related stuff. There are no more comic books, including no more Archie Digests and other kids magazines. The Marvel and DC section on graphic novels has been reduced to a shelves section for each and the same with the indies. On the other hand, the Manga section has been expanded.
Since the selection was limited, these were the only books I got during the sale

I've got like 4 Barnes and Nobles near me that I go to regularly since I started reading and collecting manga earlier this year and this half off sale had them busier then I've probably ever seen them. Easily the best sale they've had for me since usually anytime they have any half off sales it always doesn't include manga. I grabbed 12 books including a couple $50 books that were all half price.

My closest Barnes and Noble is attached to a mall that was mostly flattened to build a practice rink for the new NHL team. Frankly I’m always surprised to see it still standing.

Not surprised that they've cut back on the POPs and statues. I never saw anyone buying, or even looking at, that stuff, and it never looked picked over.
Do they still have the big toy selection? I remember they had a pretty big selection of Harry Potter stuff, Legos, and a few Star Wars toys.

Wonder if mine still has a big vinyl selection.

Taschen is having another sale on books right now. The first two Robert Crumb sketchbooks are included as well as a roaring deal on the massive XXL collection of Krazy Kat color Sundays ($200 msrp - on sale for $50).
I picked it up in the last sale, about six months back, but this may be even less now than I paid then.

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals
I saw the Taschen Golden Age DC book “in the wild” recently. As shelf space is a big concern, I was pleasantly surprised by the compact size, though of course you don’t get the same visual impact.

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals
So I picked up a few things from the Taschen sale.
Krazy Kat
Crumb Sketchbooks 1 and 2
Magritte
Rembrandt
KK and Crumb 1 came today. The KK book in its case is 13 pounds, and is huge. Two feet tall. Basically the size of a newspaper page, which makes sense.
The fine print said there was no guarantee that they'd have sale stuff in stock, or that things would ship at the same time. At least I got book 1 and the KK book. (it would have annoyed me to have gotten only book 2.)
Just checked the order status and by digging through it looks like Crumb 2 and Rembrandt should arrive tomorrow.
Thanks for the post!

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals
Glad to hear you were able to make use of it, Tony!
The Crumb sketchbooks are a blast, and were an economical proposition even at regular msrp, imo. I've enjoyed time spent tripping around in those as much as any graphic novel or collected edition I've read the last several years.
I checked my invoice from last year and I paid $65 before shipping for the Krazy Kat collection. $50 is insane.
I threw in one other "real" art book last time- Hiroshige's 100 Views Of Edo. It has Japanese binding, which I thought would be cool to have but which I find somewhat annoying tbh.
I would have preferred a more traditional, Western bound HC. Otherwise the book is beautiful, and the prints inspiring.
Hopefully I'll have some fun cash around for the next sale, because they have an XXL of woodblock prints that looks ravishing to me. It was a little too rich for me this time around.
Speaking of woodblock prints- If anyone is into ASMR, I recently stumbled across this guy running off a small batch of prints.
It's an experience very much in the Bob Ross mold. Put on some headphones or earbuds and bliss out to this for an hour or so.

They did ship my Kirby Is Fantastic and Mighty. I wasn't planning on getting them, but I have no will power. At least now I'll have something to go along with my Ditko Is Amazing
