Perhaps you guys can help me with this. What's the point of doing a Mini-series then going into a regular run? Is it simply to see if people will get into a series? Don't they do most Mini's with the regular series already in the works?
Why not just go into the regular series with the same 4 to 8 part Mini storyline instead of seperating them into Mini and Regular run?

Giant, publisher get to test the waters that way. See how the audience reacts. They get to do that with less investment in a mini then if they started a new series. If readers like it, they do the regular series and get that second first issue, like Josh mentioned. If readers don't like it, oh well, they only did a mini...no big deal.
I wish the big two would do more of this instead of just having new series starting all the time.

Yeah, as I said above I thought it might be that simple but I was wondering if there was more to it.
Personally I'm starting not to like them. But hey, different strokes.

So, it looks like my Cold Turkey experiment has come to an end. After a drunken bachelor party turned into unwarranted eBay bidding, I have to concede defeat. I guess I am a slave to my habits.

Robo talking to himself....
So, after reading Batman 656 either Bruce will have 3 kids...1 Adopted, 1 with Catwoman, and 1 with Talia OR Bruce will have 2 kids... 1 adopted and 1 with Talia. That means that the one with Catwoman will end up not being his. I've been getting that feeling more and more in recent days anyway.
Frankly, I like the idea of Bruce having kids. This one with Talia will be interesting and I like Robin being adopted. But this little girl with Selina is a puzzle to me. I would love for her to be his daughter and I know that Selina and Bruce care for each other but I just don't know if the people at DC will go with this.
oh well...we'll see what's up over the next few months....

I could get behind that idea of Selina and Bruce.
And isn't Tim adopted now too? I wish the Nightwing title wasn't so F'd up. I don't have a clue on the status of Bruce and Dick's relationship now.

Well hopefully Wolfmann can save Nightwing but it may be too far gone (well at least its not as gone as Supergirl is yet)...If Bruce isnt the father of Selina's kid, then damn, the only other person would be Slam correct?

Picked up:
All-Star Superman - fun time with Lex and Clark in prison.
Action - seemed too rushed and confusing, and it does make you go "hmm..." as to how many Kryptonians are running around currently on earth.
She-Hulk - hate all the fill-in artists on this title, though the man-wolf development raised an eyebrow.
52 - Lobo, nuff said. Finally some other characters are featured. I was getting a little tired of Black Adam/Isis, Montonya/Question for the past month or so.
Uncle Sam and the Freedom Fighters - It takes 2 issues, but we get a brief intro to all the characters, and Uncle's putting the band back together with Father Time in the mix.
Justice - enjoyed this installment, but I will enjoy it more when I can read all 12-segments in a row.
Superman/Batman - haven't read it yet.

This week:
Justice: Another great issue. There was tragedy, action, and some great humor. Proof that telling Silver Age stories can be done. And the audience will come.
Superman/Batman: i'm of the like that hates seeing so many off-beat characterizations in my comics. I hated Avengers Disassembled (John's run was great - and there was no dramatic overhauls - AND you cared about second string characters), Identity Crisis was sickening and made the JLA look like dunderheads, and this book is steadily heading down that path. I'm also getting really really REALLY sick of "Martian Manhunter: Traitor" stories. Seriously, Batman torching one of his oldest friends, when there are so many more ways he can find out if it's him? apparantly no one told Batman, but fire can hurt a lot of things.
All-Star Superman: the central panel in the comic made my head hurt, but it was a great showcase for Quietly's artistic talent. Another great issue that restores your faith in DC and the ability to tell great Superman stories.
Walking Dead: misdirection? indeed. Kirkman is one sick, sick man.

Frank Q is great at giving his art a sense of weight. When Lex went to go pick up that barbell, it's like I could feel him straining. Great, great stuff.
I've never read much Lobo, but that character has on kick as design. I don't see how he couldn't keep a book going if Punisher can.

My apologies if this has been discussed up-thread. Haven't bought a comic in years (since I finished Preacher, in fact), but was browsing the selection at Borders when I saw a Wolverine title illustrated by Steve Dillon. Issue #5, I think. Any thoughts on this series? I LOVE Dillon's work on Preacher, so might pick up issues 1-4 of Wolverine on eBay if it's decent.
