Conan #31 came out this week, right? Anyone reading that? I've enjoyed the first two issues that Mike Mignola did.

You guys need to stop reading the first issue of a new series then giving up on them.

No wonder you're all a buncha friggin Marvel fans.

Doesn't wash, it's still shitty writing. Bruce is going to do that to a child that just saw his parents murdered? He might be an asshole, but not when it comes to trauma like that. Oh yeah, speaking of asshole behavior, gotta love Batman assaulting Alfred for feeding Dick. Or is he just testing Alfred now?

The series is horrible. I gave it 4 issues, which is probably 3 more than I should have. Getting duped into buying All-Star Black Canary #3 was the final straw, though.

The book is a collection of splash pages, to cover for Miller's lazy writing.

I can't stop buying ASBR - or desiring to buy it! I just want to be shocked at what sort of stupid crazy shit happens next. I think that's the hook. Miller is brilliant. He must be laughing all the way to the bank when thinking about the 100,000+ suckers that buy this chronically late drivel . . . I'm including myself in there. Like a train wreck, I CAN"T LOOK AWAY!

To each their own man. It's just a comic. You don't like it so you don't buy it. That's fine. Neither one of us will change the other's mind and that's cool.

Robo I know you, like me, are mainly a DC guy.

But I give you 2 reasons to like Marvel. Skip to the 11:22 mark. I think you, or any straight man, will enjoy it.

I agree with MrTerrific, Boys #1 was a great read. This will be a fun series. I'm just wondering what Simon Pegg is doing in it though?

Nice symmetry that it came out the same week as Girls.

i'm not surprised by the delays with Civil War, but I honestly don't expect it to wane sales. See how hot Ultimates is after all these years - and waiting three months for that book was NOT fun - although it was worth it. They just had to put McNiven on Civil War, didn't they (never imitated, totally lovable art).

Planetary has been on a quarterly schedule for some time now.

Ultimates had a good excuse - Hitch was almost dying the past few years. I'm surprised he even got the damn thing out at all.

Superman/Batman is the one book I really hate to hear whining about re: lateness. I mean for Christsakes the guy's kid DIED.

Lateness in comics doesn't bother me much anymore. Although it can't hurt the "big two", I hate to see smaller press get hurt by erratic publishing schedules. The Goon would probably be more popular and have more backing if it came out at least bi monthly.

Hitch? I thought it was Millar who had Crohn's disease. Hitch looked pretty healthy to me at Heroes Con back in early July.

Oh my God! I just saw the trailer for the Marvel: Ultimate Alliance video game. It's just a cut scene, so no word on how the actual game looks, but my God -- I would pay cash money to watch an entire movie done like this cut scene:

With all this talk about late monthlies, I wonder if now would be a bad time to talk about going all trade.

Yeah we were talking about this in the Video game Forum some time back. The HD trailer has been available for download on the 360 for some time. There's also a Justice League game coming out for the original XBOX...naturally everyone saw the Marvel game and ignored the Jusice league game.

Anyone else reading Casanova? I had heard enough good things about it that I decided to pick up the first three issues when I was in the shop yesterday. It's a really cool book -- it reads like Nick Fury crossed with Grant Morrison crossed with Jack Kirby crossed with a bunch of other random stuff. I've added it to my monthly pull.

I also picked up the collection of Eric Shanower's Oz stories from 15-20 years ago. I've only read the first one so far, but it's absolutely gorgeous.

Uhm...I actually read up through ish 4 and the nosedive continued. I just don't think Miller has produced anything of any quality in the comic arena this decade.

I've read #1 and #2 so far.

It's... okay so far. Basically Jerry Cornelius with the serial numbers filed off, if you know what I mean. (I'm probably the only person in the world who was unimpressed with Moorcock's Cornelius stuff, so I'm not really prejudiced either way.)

I don't really care for the color scheme; that green is hideous. I wish they'd use a different color for each issue. Green one issue, orange the next, then blue, then pink, then yellow, then purple.

I'll probably stick with it for a little while longer even though Matt Fraction's writing has never really impressed me.

I just went all trade this month. I'm sick of monthlies and I don't like the single-issue comic format anymore. If there's a good one-shot out there i'll pick it up but it's all trades for me now. Honestly I think the entire comic industry is going to move in that direction eventually. Then again, they won't be able to to do as many bullshit crossovers as they do now.

Well Detective Comics by Dini has been great so far, and they are all single stories right now so I dont know if they will be collected in trade. Definitely worth picking up right now imo...

One of the coolest shots in 52....Black Adam and Isis walking off with the freed child slaves. I got a lump in my throat. I'm really diggin' Isis and her affect on Black Adam. I'm sure it won't last but it's cool so far.

I picked up the last two issues and loved them. Dini's ability to pace short stories so they have substance really showed. There will probably be a trade, given how popular he is, and how most of 'tec is in trade anyway. I'm not so much loving the Morrison issues, mostly because the art doesn't really fit the abstract nature of the story, and it's a sequel to a story I never really liked in the first place. The one thing I DID enjoy was Robin coming down the Batpole and says "Guys.". It just seemed like an awfully casual moment in the Batman family that was quite nice.

Yeah...I'm likin' Black Adam, but didn't you find the whole introduction of Isis a bit contrived?

Yeah I know what you mean. But then again, to me most Hero/villian origins seem that way.

With the last two months, I've really slashed the monthly titles I plan on pre-ordering. But, stuff like The Boys is a title I'm not waiting for the trade on.

But, I find myself reading more and more trades myself. I just started Hulk: Gray last night.

Just read Ultimate Spider-Man 99, and while I've tried to defend Bendis when people say how poor his writing is, I'm finding it harder and harder to do so.

The story is just.... bad. I'm all for taking these characters and showing how they would be had they been developed in modern times, but the raping and re-hashing of old storylines has got to stop. I've already mentioned how bad the Jean DeWolffe story was, and this Clone Saga story looks to be as bad (if not worse) as the original - wich was a story responsible for driving away a huge number of readers.

Maybe it's burnout. Bendis seems to be writing everything now. It's just time to get him out and try someone new.

Damn, I had to go to the bank and get some cash because it was a big week for me at the LCS.
