I'm glad you DC guys have something to look forward to this year. I've got to put up with this Marvel Civil War crap. i still haven't decided what i'm going to do about that.

Civil War sounds interesting enough for me to pick up the series at least. Doubt I will follow much else besides New Avengers and Spider-man.

I was pretty surprised that DC said that not only will there be no tpb for 52 until it's completed, but there will also be no reprints. I guess I'll have to add it to my subscription instead of counting on being able to pick up the first couple issues.

Yeah, right... no reprints. If that first issue sells out in the first day across the country, I guaran-damn-tee you'll see a reprint the next week or the week after at the latest.

Could somebody please tell Judd Winick to stop writing?

Please?

Nextwave #1 -- What the hell was that?!?

Warren Ellis is trying to be funny and just comes off as stupid. Immomen's art is nearly unrecognizable. The story was pretty confusing.

Good thing I only pre-ordered the first issue because it was cheap. (That's becoming my tagline )

I've enjoyed his run so far, but I can't argue the merits of that issue. Winnick doesn't write a good Joker at all.

So I just put in my first order with DCBS for some trades. After eyeing their prices with atleast 35% off trades I couldn't take it any longer. So how long is usually the turn around for them? I don't mind the wait or anything. I have the majority of single issues anyways but would like to know how they work and when they charge my card for the order and all those minor details.

If you ordered today, that should be shipping in March. Did you order "monthly shipment"? I would think that would mean the ones you ordered would be shipping the last Tuesday or Wednesday of March.

My December order just was charged to my account on 01/16.

If you don't like ordering that far in advance, http://www.instocktrades.com/ has a 35% discount on their trades and you shouldn't have any problems getting the current month's trades pretty easily. They're also run by DCBS.

They were all Trades that have came out that I was just catching up on.

Green Lantern: Rebirth
Green Lantern: No Fear
Superman: For Tomorrow (terrible monthly and boring story but... a HC for $12. yes please)
Superman/Batman the third trade. Again, decent story but 9.99 for a HC. Sold!
Batman: Absolute Hush

So they aren't anything from the Jan Previews section. Just curious if it takes that long for any order to go through or if it's just those books set to come out in march.

Waiting isn't an issue either. God knows I have more than enough comics to keep me busy.

I'd consider canceling your order. Seriously. Go through their sister company, In Stock Trades. You get 35% off and free shipping over $50, which you obviously have. Plus, you'll get them right away. Send an email to the DCBS customer support and tell them you'd like to use their other company.

I just got my latest DCBS shipment and can't wait to dive into all the comics. But damn, I sure wish I could get these pesky little static-filled pieces of white packing peanuts off of me.

I liked it, but the humor was hit or miss. The bad jokes did take a away from the book, but the good comedy made up for it. I'm not too familiar with Immonen's work, but I'll take this over his UXM work. As for the story, Ellis does this a lot. He drops you in the middle of the story and you're not supposed to understand it all.

All that being said, Marvel put out 2 excellent mini's last year that also featured has-been heroes trying to get back in the game with a large amount of humor thrown in. I'll probably read every issue of Nextwave, but I'd take more GLA or New Warriors in a second over this.

Well, it's not really a rush thing. Also add to that the prices on a couple of the trades were DCBS specials only. So I save a couple of bucks sticking it out. So I guess I'll be charged sometime next month and shipped during march. Eh, not a big deal to wait it out.

Was checking off all my books for this month against my Previews list, and I see that I didn't get the Supreme Power: Hyperion #5 I ordered. Checking my collection, I see that I don't have #4 either. Did either of these come out, or is JMS goofing off again?

So I read IC #4 last night. Liked it much more than the previous issue, but I'm still not as into it as I would be if I knew more about the DC Universe. And it seems that reading other series would help me understand more, but c'mon, a mini should be self contained.

Also read the latest New Avengers. I love Cho's art. And the story was good too. Might have to pick up some of the previous HCs.

You and I are pretty much in the same boat (not having that deep deep understanding of the DCU that would make this series that much better), but I have to disagree that it should be self contained. IC is so ambitious that I don't mind that it's practically a company wide crossover. That's not to say you can't follow whats happening by just reading IC, but events that happened in IC4 had an impact in Batman 649 and Robin. I like how huge this all is.

This story really spans 20+ real-world years, multiple universes, and much of known space. I think it would be pretty hard to contain in just a single mini.

I think we hear arguments on both sides of this issue though: either people want it all contained in the mini or people complain about the rest of the books ignoring what's happening in the mini.

The first Secret Wars did it best, I think. Have all the heroes disappear for a while (was it only a few pages, or a whole issue? Can't remember), then reappear changed. The universe doesn't skip a beat and the changes are made. You just need to read the mini to know the whats and hows.

Okay, perhaps I mispoke. Maybe what I want is a specified crossover list. Or some numbering sequence that tells me which books I should read if I want to understand something that's going on in IC. Chew is right. It's too big to be contained in one mini, but unless I read every DC book, I'm not getting the whole story.

It seems that each issue of IC is broken into sections, with a page or two or three devoted to some happening in the DC Universe. Well, that's certainly not enough to tell the story. But without knowing where to look for more information, it's a bit confusing and disorienting. Sure, the main story with Superboy and Earth 2 Superman makes sense, but a lot of the details are lost on me (only some of which can be blamed on my lack of DC knowledge).

Well, maybe I made another mistake when I asked for that. What I should've asked for was a company-wide crossover that was contained in only those books that I read.

It's a little late in the game, but checking out this link: http://www.dccomics.com/features/crisis_counseling/ will give you a weekly dose of what's happening in all the DC titles relating to Crisis.

The crossovers are kind of burning me out. I haven't read Firestorm yet for the month, but can someone refresh me on what everyone went off to fight in space? It's not been made clear yet right?
