I agree! I can't wait to see where all this is going. I mean everyone is PISSED THE HELL OFF in the DC Universe. Where is this all going?

Sadly, I missed the Crisis mini from earlier in the year, so I'll have to catch up with that when the HC hits stores.
Giantrobo, give me a few days to read this Sacrifice arc and the new JLA arc, and I'll be posting like mad....

Gene Ha's art in Top Ten is fantastic, too. I love his wide "shots" of Neopolis-- they're almost dreamlike in size and scope.

Really? I had also heard Donna Troy would be a player too. I guess we'll see.
I also hate to buying books I don't normally read and I had every intention of jsut sticking to cetain ones. But this whole thing has pulled me right in.

Yeah, like I haev my favorite titles and that's it but this whole thing is just too interesting for me too miss.
I just read the ADAM STRANGE:Planet Heist TPB and it really helped me appreciate RANN/THANAGAR WAR. I was already into it because I like Hawk related stories. Also, I've known about Adam Strange for years but I'm really getting into him now based on this whole storyline. Anyway, like I said, Planet Heist made RTW even better. I can't wait to see where it's going.

Holy crap!
I just finished the Sacrifice storyline and man oh man. I don't even know who this Max Lord guy is, but who cares. That last panel of Wonder Woman 219 was so amazing. I can't wait to see where this is going.
You know what DC is doing, right? They're making superhero books fun again. Say what you want about the violence or darkness or whatever. DC is taking away the status quo and basically saying anything can and will happen. Heroes can die, kill, turn on each other...whatever. And I'm officially on for the ride.

However, I'm starting to regret my decision since I've heard nothing but positive things about these Crisis stories. I've been trying to keep up with what's going on through "Identity Counseling" on DC's website, but I haven't seen anything about the "Scarifice" storyline. Can someone spoilerize it for me?

spoiler space....
Superman battling Brainiac and getting blood all over him, but when the JLA intervene, he finds out that he was mind controlled by Lord and he was actually beating up Batman. More craziness ensues as Superman must decide if he really is being controlled or if maybe, just maybe, it's the entire JLA that's controlled and not him. In Wonder Woman 219, WW traps Lord....does she have to kill him to save Superman? Well, that my friend, would be telling.

And Bats didn't need yet another reason to be pissed at the JL and to distrust Supes.

Birds of Prey? Oh man, I can't wait to read this issue then.
As for Batman, I look forward to seeing how this all distrupts the friendships in the DCU. Could be fun.

Sometimes i wish i knew what you DC readers were talking about....its just so hard fo rme to make the jump over to your universe when I've wasted so much of my life in Marvel.
Anyway, for any Marvel people....who is this Daniel Way writer? He's writing like 5 of the titles in Marvel's November Solicitations. Oh and Hawkeye is back? WTF? I was mad when bendis killed him, but now I don't even care. I swear Marvel is dangerously close to sucking at a mid 1990's level right now. At least I have a few good books left. Sigh.

Sure, they produce their own share of garbage, but the main titles or the ones associated with Crisis are really working for me.

DC produces some decent stuff, but Marvel's best books still blow away anything in the DCU. I've tried all the IC stuff and it's all a huge letdown compared to ID Crisis. ID Crisis had more of a real feel to it like a lot of Marvel's stuff. Most of the stuff I read in the DCU makes me feel like I'm watching the Superfriends. Some of the time that works, like in Superman/Batman where it's really over the top, but the rest of the DCU seems to be trying to straddle this line between modern darker storytelling and cheesy golden age storytelling.

I can tell that Marvel has some sort of spell over many of you because you guys hardly even mention DC in these threads. I guess it goes back to when you were kids and Spider-man and Hulk Underoos were all the rage.

Just like I'm sure I'm missing out by not reading -any- Marvel I would also say that many of you are missing out by not letting go of your anti-DC bias.

As for the Marvel v DC back and forth...
I like both equally. But IMO, I think Marvel's slipped slightly once Quesada/Jemas took the reigns. Sure, there have been some GREAT Marvel books since, but I find myself enjoying DC more lately.

I've always been a DC junkie. This topic was talked about in the "Comic Geek Speak" podcast a while back (anybody else listen to it?). They claim that the first comic you ever picked up is the company you have a greater fondness for.
That's not true in my case: My first comic was Uncanny X-Men.

You know, my main reason for being such a Marvel junkie is that the only place I could usually buy comics when I was growing up was at my local drug store. They pretty much only stocked Marvel. So that is what I read and I grew attached to the characters.
The good thing back then was every monday they got the new bundles in and you always KNEW what was coming out. No 3-4 month delay inbetween issues (like the current Iron Man crap). I bought from that drug store through the mid 80's until the early 90's so i spent a lot of time getting to know the Marvel characters.
So maybe the nostalgia factor is part of the reason I can't seem to get into DC books. I don't know... but i do know that not even nostalgia could save New Avengers and every Spider-Man book from getting dropped from my pull list. Oh and X-men and Uncanny X-men...and wolverine....etc...When this happens to characters you've known and loved it's that much harder for me to even WANT to try out new stuff.

Anyway, I thought DC was moving AWAY from knock-em sock-em superheroes? maybe I was wrong....

James W. Powell I do (well not many, but some) however I tend to buy those types of books in trade format. Those aren't the types of books that I feel I need to know what happens on a month to month basis, and honestly they don't really come out on a month to month basis anyway. Plus I usually learn about a book that seems interesting after it's collected. Slice of life books are the mad notes.

I've always read non-superhero comics, but I've definitely been more interested in superhero comics over the last 5 years. To me, Quesada/Jemas made Marvel not only better than DC, but better than most indies. I do have to laugh at anybody who complains about 3-4 month delays in comics though. I have to wait 3-4 years between issues of some of my favorite comics like Optic Nerve, Eightball, Peep Show, and anything from Jhonen Vasquez. I have no problem waiting a long time for comics because if it helps keep the quality up it's worth it, but some of my favorite indies are taking ridiculous amounts of time to come out.
