Request a review on the comic Lucifer?
I've seen several people mention this book as something really worth reading but i'm curious what kind of story is it. My local comic shop has like issues 32 and 33 and i was wondering if that area would be an ok jumping on point or would i be totally lost?

I always recommend starting the first issue of any series. Jumping into the middle seems to cause confusion sometimes if the characters start discussing things that happened previously.
There are three collections for the issues 1 - 20 of Lucifer. Not all of the issues are winners, but for the most part it is a good comic. I let a few months go by and then buy all the issues I missed because I hate to read one comic and then wait for the next issue to come out. It drives me crazy, especially if the story arc is really interesting.
It's not as good as Sandman was, but it's just as good as The Dreaming.

Lucifer is good. Very good.
The title very much recalls Vertigo's early-90s glory days. If you enjoyed SANDMAN, it's very much worth checking out. And even if you haven't read SANDMAN, you can jump right in without feeling like you're missing much.
This is a pretty continuity-heavy series, though, and it would be best start with the three paperback collections before jumping into the series with the current issues.

I only read a few titles now, and Lucifer is one of them. I enjoy it, but you do need to start at the beginning. Otherwise, there's no clue what the characters are talking about.
The chief problem is that it's about the most powerful being in creation. Before the fall Lucifer was the cleverest and most beautiful of the angels, and one of only six archangels. So there's not a lot of dramatic tension. The pleasure is in seeing just how he'll get out of the latest mess, and reading the clever conversation.

Ok, good to hear it is worth my time. I really liked Sandman and i also thought Preacher was excellent so i kind of dig on the comics with a supernatural/religious mythology theme. I guess i'll hold off on those two issues and try to pick up the trades then.... although what is the title of the first trade? I've found a volume 2 and a volume three online but the only other thing i've found is a Lucifer: Nirvana - which doesn't appear to be the first trade.

Vol.1 - Lucifer: Devil in the Gateway (Reprints "Sandman Presents: Lucifer - The Morningstar Option" #1-3 and "Lucifer" #1-4) This reprints the initial Lucifer miniseries under the Sandman Presents banner and the first four issues of the ongoing series.
Vol. 2 - Lucifer: Children and Monsters (Reprints "Lucifer" #5-13)
Vol. 3 - Lucifer: A Dalliance With the Damned (Reprints "Lucifer" #14-20)
Lucifer: Nirvana was a 48-page graphic novel, spun off of the series. I'm unsure whether or not this will be appearing in the trade paperback collections. Sometimes DC will include these things, and sometimes they won't. Preacher included all of their one-shots in the trade paperbacks, and Sandman sort of did. Sandman Midnight Theater (a crossover between Wesley Dodds of Sandman Mystery Theater and Morpheus, and co-written by Gaiman) was never included in the Sandman trades, but did make it into a DC collection of Gaiman work (along with Hellblazer #27 and a few Swamp Thing tales). DC has yet to include of the TRANSMETROPOLITAN one-shots ("I Hate it Here" and "Filth of the City") in any of the trade paperbacks.

I thought the first miniseries - "The Morningstar Option" - was by far the best. I keep swinging back and forth on the current series. Just when I think I'm going to drop the series out of boredom, they put out a single issue story that's really great. Ah well.

This is one of the best titles that Vertigo is putting out. It's just too bad that it keeps getting over-shadowed by more "hot" books like 100 Bullets, Y the Last Man, and Fables. All are great books, but Lucifer should get some more love from the fans.
