a question for comics fans.
just a question..
has anyone's buying habits changed now that TPB's are much more prevalent then they used to be? i know that for me, i tend not to buy as many things new anymore because i can usually count on them being available as either a HC or TPG. Daredevil: Yellow, Quiver, Origin...all coming in the next month or two in HC. i am curious as to what everyone is buying (or not).

Mine haven't just because I can't really afford to buy trades, but I know a lot of people who are cutting back on their monthlies and picking up the trade. There's even rumors that Marvel is talking to Oni Press for some sort of deal involving trades. Oni, of course, is known for having great quality production of their trades.

I think I am in the minority where I just love my monthlies. I really like having my all-time favorite stories in trade format, but there is just something about having the original issues that I enjoy. Some comics like Powers if you ever read it, I like the letter columns as much as the comic itself. In trades you just don't get those.
I think it depends on how much you love the story or comics in general. I usually just cannot wait for the trades to come out so I buy the monthlies & then unless it's one of my die-hard titles like Daredevil that I have to have the original issues. I will ebay my monthlies & buy the trades(i.e. I just did this with Banner). That's probably how trades have changed my buying habits the most.
And Oni press trades definitely rule, can't wait for the hardcover Queen & Country.
