Finished:

The Dungeon Anarchist's Cookbook by Matt Dinniman. Certainly Sheldon Cooper's favorite Dungeon Crawler Carl book since it has lots of trains. On the other hand, it's probably not technically accurate so he would probably hate it. This series can really keep going and going since each "floor" is its own world. And we're only on floor 4 here, and teasers are making it sound like the floor that are multiples of three are the really interesting ones. Although at a certain point, the dungeon will just have killed everyone.

I still haven't read his Wanderers followup, and I don't know if I ever will. Post pandemic horror with the villains being militant right-wing religious zealots is just a little too close to reality for my enjoyment.

Only a few pages in so far - just started it today. It's book one in a new dark fantasy series apparently. I'm a big Wendig fan so looking forward to it (though by the time book two comes out I will probably not recall the plot of this one!)
Calamities is slated for an August 2026 release but I was fortunate to receive an ARC from the publisher

Haven't read Wayward either. And my recall of the all the plot points of Wanderers is a big fuzzy so who knows if I will....

If you haven't check out Wendig's 'Miriam Black' series. Fantastic stuff - and that character is on a short list of truly memorable lead characters.

Finshed:

Cycle of the Werewolf by Stephen King

I was a little disappointed in this, in that it seemed more of a rough sketch of a novelette than a fully-fleshed out story. It wasn't awful, but it wasn't anything worth reading again, either.

Up next:

Green Mansions by W. H. Hudson

I picked this up at a local thrift store a few months ago, thinking that it might be interesting. When I got home to add it to a spreadsheet that I keep of all the books I own, I found out that I already had two other copies in storage! That made me think that I need to read it and perhaps get rid of a couple of copies of it. I'm a little leery of it, considering it was written over 100 years ago and doesn't seem to be particularly well-loved, but I guess I'll see, huh?

It began life as a calendar illustrated by Bernie Wrightson with monthly vignettes written by Stephen King, so that's why it feels like a rough novelette. And, of course, King being King, it was expanded from a calendar to a novelette.

Just finished:
Long Take by Akira Kurosawa.

Really enjoyed this. More of a series of essays than a ‘book’ like his autobiography, but it was nice to get more of his musings after the period covered in that one.
