Really really liked these. I had heard Abercrombie's stuff recommended a while ago in the vein of "if you liked GRRM, check these out" ... but just got around to it now. And I ripped through this trilogy. Like ASoIaF, it's a world light on magic (but it's there and ends up playing a huge role by the end), it's a gritty violent story, and the characterizations are done really well (and characters who seem to be bad at first may turn out good and vice versa). I liked the black sense of humor. And while the ending may not have been completely satisfying, it was ok at wrapping up the story in this trilogy while leaving things open for future books. I'll definitely have to check out more of his books.
