Current book is Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter.

Up next is Charlaine Harris' new Sookie book.

I thought this was pretty wonderful myself (though it is twenty plus years since I read it.) The film was also a worthy interpretation of the novel.

An interesting biography of three good character actors. The section on Dennis Price is particularly fine - though he endured a pretty tragic life. They really don't make solid character actors like these guys anymore.

I must say it has the butt-ugliest cover of all time - below is the second edition cover which is only marginally better.

Re: What are you reading? (June 2012)

I just finished Boris Pasternak's Doctor Zhivago. I began in January, read briefly off and on throughout February as I concentrated on finishing the first draft of my own novel, then gorged on it before basically letting it collect dust in April and most of May. I'm still processing it all but I hope to have a review up on Goodreads and my personal blog sometime later today or tomorrow.

I can say that I thoroughly enjoyed it, with the notable exception of the 20-ish pages of poetry at the very end. I hate poetry.

Re: What are you reading? (June 2012)

I didn't think myself awake enough to really write anything about Zhivago, but I just spent the last hour or so poring over it. Anyone who cares can read the whole thing on Goodreads or my blog (the content is the same). I tried something new this time, angling more for a proper literary criticism than merely a product review. As such, it's quite lengthy and includes several spoilers so I would not advise anyone who is simply interested in the book to read.

Next up for me: No idea! I checked out the Road to Perdition graphic novel from the library and I need to read that so I can return it, but I haven't settled on another work of prose.

Thanks for the heads up. I was curious about that one. (I've never seen the movie, but kind of want to because it seems visually pretty.)

I finished Hell House last night. Creepy atmosphere in parts, but it wasn't really scary. It held my interest well enough to stick with it, but I think the hype killed it for me.

Clickable image.

Finished The Little Sister. It wasn't as fun as the previous novels. I've been depressed, and don't need to read about a depressed character. On to The Long Goodbye.

...um. The Long Goodbye isn't exactly a laugh-a-minute.
