Hard Case Crime, Part 4

Re: Hard Case Crime, Part 4
That was the last Hunt book and it's release was delayed due to the publishing fiasco HCC was going through at the time. I doubt many people picked it up (I never did; though was meaning to). Maybe HCC suspected it's cover wasn't too familiar w/readers so it doubled up on it.

Got my first batch of Crichtons. Looks like Titan is spreading them out into two batches of four this month, so I think only four are available today. They even have their own unique spine numbers, beginning with "MC."

I think we missed these announcements, or at least the cover art reveals: Max Allan Collins' THE WRONG QUARRY in January, and Lawrence Block's BORDERLINE in May.

Here's something interesting. A friend (bishop2knight) was browsing Amazon for The Twenty-Year Death and came across these. The listings indicate that they will be mass market paperbacks. Perhaps they're an indication that HCC is indeed going in that direction?

I posted about this back in October. See post #369.
From what I was told by local book store at the time is that they'll follow-up the trade's with mmpb's. Not sure if this would be limited to new releases only or if they'll issue mmpb's for prior trade releases.

Gotcha As much as I want to read those 'new' Crichton's, I may hold off on buying the trades in hopes of eventually picking them up in mmpb.

If they're going to have separate releases of each Twenty Year Death story then they should do separate releases for Strange Embrace/69 Barrow Street, or at least issue another printing of the two together.

Re: Hard Case Crime, Part 4
Hey, so for those of you that have read a lot of HCC titles, are there any books that are written from the third person that you'd recommend?
I know that seems kind of odd, but just curious.
I've read Little Girl Lost and loved it, and read grifters game, and did not like it.
Even though those are both first person.

Badass Exclusive: See The Hard Case Crime Cover For Samuel Fuller’s Lost Novel!
The director of THE NAKED KISS and SHOCK CORRIDOR is getting the Hard Case treatment - see the cover for his lost book!
I've spoken before of my love for Hard Case Crime here on BAD. The label releases some of the most interesting mysteries and noir novels in publication today, and I love best their covers; they look incredible lined up on a shelf together, like every Jonny Gossamer book you ever wanted to read but couldn't because those books don't actually exist.
Hard Case Crime and Titan Books are getting together to release their latest, Samuel Fuller's lost 1993 novel Brainquake. Yes, the director of The Big Red One and The Naked Kiss wrote a novel in the last years of his life, and now you can read it. And we have an exclusive look at the cover, which is every ounce as cool as one might expect:

Guess what's on shelves now? Looks like it's a simultaneous hardcover and trade paperback, but I couldn't find the hardcover at my local stores. Specialty stores and Amazon only, it appears.

And some other cover image updates from the site. Interesting to see the WALK AMONG THE TOMBSTONES movie tie-in. What's going on there?

Re: Hard Case Crime, Part 4
^ Huh! An original, due in September. Here's some more info, from the HCC site:
"Cashed out from the NYPD after 24 years, Doak Miller operates as a private eye in steamy small-town Florida, doing jobs for the local police. Like posing as a hit man and wearing a wire to incriminate a local wife who’s looking to get rid of her husband. But when he sees the wife, when he looks into her deep blue eyes...
"He falls—and falls hard. Soon he’s working with her, against his employer, plotting a devious plan that could get her free from her husband and put millions in her bank account. But can they do it without landing in jail? And once he's kindled his taste for killing...will he be able to stop at one?"
I like this from the Block site:
Block has described the book as “a down-and-dirty noir thriller, characterized by my Hollywood agent as ‘James M. Cain on Viagra.’ ”
