Almost finished with the first book of the "His Dark Materials" trilogy, The Golden Compass. Definitely enjoying it so far, though the author would loathe the comparison, I've found a lot of parallels with the Narnia series. Looking forward to the next two books

Nonfiction lately:
Day of Reckoning by Pat Buchanan. I just finished it.
Independents Day by Lou Dobbs. Got this one for Christmas, and I'm about halfway through it. After these I'll be ready for some lightweight fiction.

DVD Talk Limited Edition
For me. I've resolved to read (at least) two books a month this year, so we'll see how that goes. Figure I should start off easy. If I like Legend enough, I'll read the short stories which round out the package.

Heinlein's Stranger in a Strange Land. Now that those 60 pages of boring expository dialog are out of the way, I'm really liking it.

Finished No Country For Old Men this morning. Now I am going back and finishing Dress Your Family in Courduroy and Denim. I only had like 30 pages left but I put it aside to read No Country.
