60 Days and Counting by Kim Stanley Robinson (the third in the series)

^ Okay, I'm giving up on this one. I've been reading it since the beginning of December (that was my 3rd attempt in starting it) and I just can't get into it. I'm just over 100 pages and that's enough. I picked it up since Iron Maiden based an album off of the book series. The album is much better.

Ugh. Stranger in a Strange Land sure fizzled out. The book rises and falls with (and without) the involvement of Jubal Harshaw. Also with the degree of finesse with which Heinlein treats his preaching.

Now onto Don DeLillo's Underworld.

I enjoyed the first book in Card's Alvin Maker series but was less thrilled by book two and uninspired by book three.

One day I may read them again and complete the sequence to book six.

Currently reading Gentle Vengeance by Charles LeBaron - an account of his first year at Harvard Medical School. Fascinating book. Already finished the Harry Potter book.

Next up: Game Over - the history of Nintendo.

...finished, grungingly, Underboss by Peter Moss about the exploits of Sammy the Bull, and how he brought down John Gotti by turning on him and cooperating with the Government. Now, while I'm all for reading about people from the Mafia, the writing style of Mr. Moss leaves much to be desired. But I did, finally, finish it.

Anyway, I'm currently on a voyage on the ship called the Wanderer, sailing through the Indian Ocean with Carl Denham, John Driscoll, and Ann Darrow. This little book, published in 1932, was written by Edgar Wallace and Merian C. Cooper, novelization by Delos W. Lovelace........and I guess by now you know which book I'm reading.

The writing style might be a tad dated and melodramatic (at times), but by the time you really realize that it is a little melodramatic, you're already hooked, and it don't matter. As a matter of fact, I find myself accepting it. In the right context (and this is), that written language, or dialog, can make you believe people really interacted that way. And the dramatic license of the writing doesn't manipulate...quite the opposite. It rivets you to your seat as you're reading. When Denham finally gets around to explaining to Driscoll, the Captain, and Ms. Darrow the objective of his mission, you're all ears, too.

He used to be my doctor. I don't think I've read any of his books, but I think my parents have a signed copy of one at home. (Christmas Gift sounds familiar).

Was reading "Passin Through" by Louis L'Amour until I found out 50 something pages were missing toward the end. Right now I'm reading Clive Cussler's "The Chase". Pretty good thus far.

I've recently discovered Clive Cussler, so I'm reading The Navigator right now.
