^ I've heard good things about Swierczynski -- I'll probably check those two out at some point.

Today, I started:

Fantasy fan, Bioware AD&D game fan (and former AD&D player), so it's about time I give R.A. Salvatore a shot:

I'm halfway through the third book. Not bad ... I'll probably give the more aclaimed "Drow" trilogy a shot too. The writing noticeably improves over the 3 books (they were the author's first books). Not at the level of Robin Hobb or George R.R. Martin, but I'm enjoying it.

Just finished some Orson Scott Card short stories (forget the name) and finished Koontz's "the Husband." Starting King's "Lisley's Story" today. Been reading more lately. Yay.

I just finished Terry Brooks' The Sword of Shannara, which I found to be extremely derivative of Tolkien and rather poorly written. Seeing how many books Brooks has published I can only imagine he got better much better, or fantasy readers aren't very discriminating.

EDIT: I was a bit snarky there because I was so disappointed in the book, no offense to fantasy readers intended.

Now I'm splitting my time between

and a collection of H. P. Lovecraft shorts.

My sister in-law's going to be giving me a bunch of books her religious quack of a sister sent her because they were "evil", she dropped of some movies earlier today that she received for the same reason. They included 16 Candles, Sleepy Hollow and As Good As It Gets, among others, so I have no idea what to expect.

There are some others I plan to read, but I'll need to get through these three first.

Almost half-way through Thomas Perry's Pursuit. Excellent -- would make a great movie.

Perry's Pursuit is one of the best in the genre in recent years, IMO. Glad you like it.

I just started reading Pursuit also. I've heard nothing but great things about it and so far it's meeting my expectations.
