What Are You Reading? March 2007
http://ec2.images-amazon.com/images/...CLZZZZZZZ_.jpg
Getting ready for the movie "300" so I'm reading The Histories by Herodotus |
Just finished http://www.booksamillion.com/bam/cov...0312343779.jpg
Which was immensely satisfying & all kind of awesome. About to start: http://www.booksamillion.com/bam/cov...0312343795.jpg |
^ I've heard good things about Swierczynski -- I'll probably check those two out at some point.
Today, I started: http://www.tjeffersonparker.com/imag...ners_us_hc.gif |
Going to give Levin's sequel a shot.
Son of Rosemary |
Fantasy fan, Bioware AD&D game fan (and former AD&D player), so it's about time I give R.A. Salvatore a shot:
http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/...CLZZZZZZZ_.jpg I'm halfway through the third book. Not bad ... I'll probably give the more aclaimed "Drow" trilogy a shot too. The writing noticeably improves over the 3 books (they were the author's first books). Not at the level of Robin Hobb or George R.R. Martin, but I'm enjoying it. |
|
Just finished some Orson Scott Card short stories (forget the name) and finished Koontz's "the Husband." Starting King's "Lisley's Story" today. Been reading more lately. Yay.
|
I just finished Terry Brooks' The Sword of Shannara, which I found to be extremely derivative of Tolkien and rather poorly written. Seeing how many books Brooks has published I can only imagine he got better much better, or fantasy readers aren't very discriminating.
EDIT: I was a bit snarky there because I was so disappointed in the book, no offense to fantasy readers intended. Now I'm splitting my time between http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...eworld2001.jpg and a collection of H. P. Lovecraft shorts. My sister in-law's going to be giving me a bunch of books her religious quack of a sister sent her because they were "evil", she dropped of some movies earlier today that she received for the same reason. They included 16 Candles, Sleepy Hollow and As Good As It Gets, among others, so I have no idea what to expect. |
Just finished Fragile Things by Neil Gaiman
Starting: http://secure.www.bomcclub.com/doc/G...9753338_lg.gif |
A few more pages in:
http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q...B00064HO7W.jpg then I'll start: http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q...0374126461.gif Gonna go through as many virus/plague books as I can. Find it endlessly fascinating. |
Just read:
http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/...CLZZZZZZZ_.jpg World War Z by Max Brooks (I gave this to my brother for Christmas; he finished it and let me borrow it) Just started: http://www.opinionjournalbookstore.c...0306814579.jpg Body Piercing Saved My Life: Inside the Phenomenon of Christian Rock by Andrew Beaujon Bathroom reading: http://ec2.images-amazon.com/images/...CLZZZZZZZ_.jpg The Modern Gentleman: A Guide to Essential Manners, Savvy & Vice by Phineas Mollod and Jason Tesauro |
http://ec2.images-amazon.com/images/...CLZZZZZZZ_.jpg
http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/...CLZZZZZZZ_.jpg http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/...CLZZZZZZZ_.jpg There are some others I plan to read, but I'll need to get through these three first. |
