So far this month, I've gone through The Last Juror, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Freakonomics. Next up is Honeymoon (James Patterson). I still want to get through the Historian and A Long Way Down, as I posted earlier in this thread.

Sessa thanks for point out that author. I love water moster books so I'm definately going to check some of his stuff out when I get through my current "to read" pile.

Reading Richard Laymon's "The Island" now and listening to Dean Koontz's "False Memory".

I'm reading Laymon's "Island" now too (about 300 pages in)! One thing about Laymon -- even in his lesser books, he's always fast reading. I'm at a pace of 2 pgs/min (about twice my normal speed) with this, and I'm not even trying to read fast. Though big margins, large font, and numerous chapter breaks also help speed things up.

Before this I just finished Caitlin R. Kiernan's "Low Red Moon":

I've been looking for the Jarhead audiobook a few places, but with no luck. Audible doesn't have it (at least not available to me in Canada).

Let me know what you think of it.

AFAIK it's only on CD or Cassette, no one offers a download version.

What did you think of it? I started a thread on this book here, but apparantly no one has read it.

I liked it up until the very end. Without giving any spoilers, it felt as if McCarthy wasn't interested in following the main plot of the novel anymore, so he just quickly tied that story up and moved onto writing about something else for the remainder. The problem is that these final pages aren't very interesting and drag on. For most of the book, I couldn't put it down, but towards the end I couldn't wait to put it down. Based on the reviews I've read on Amazon, other people share this opinion.

Lunar Park on the other hand was amazing, and is probably one of my favorite Ellis books now.

After a hiatus, I am now continuing with Tad Williams' Otherland series and just starting Volume Three, "Mountain of Black Glass".

As I have some travelling coming up, I'm hoping to read a good few books during September.

I'm trying to read Steve Altan's "MEG" about a Megaladon Shark but it's hard getting into it. Not that the book is bad, it's just me. I go through these "not in the mood to read books" mood every once in a while so right now Comics are about all I'm interested in. Other times I can't stop reading books. I'm also waiting for one of the Dune prequels called "The Battle of Corrin" to hit the paperbacks this month. I know I won't be able to put that one down.

The funning this is although I'm not in the book reading mood, I've actually been thinking of re-reading Clive Barker's "IMAJICA". It's a long ass complex book that originally took me a few years to read. But for some reason I think I'll be able to get through it with a better understanding of all that goes on in the book. Hell, it was so long it'll be just like reading a new book.
