Henning Mankell - Crime novels.
I don't venture in this forum often, but I recently discovered that Swedish author and his crime novels are excellent. They feature a police inspector from the Swedish city of Ystad named Kurt Wallander as he tries to solve murder mysteries. I read two of his novels so far (The Dogs of Riga, One Step Behind) and they are fascinating. Plus they are real page turners! I went to the book store this evening and bought 3 more. I believe there are 9 Wallander novels in all. I personnally found the change (not the usual US, or Paris, or London...) of settings intriguing and refreshing. Fans of the genre should give him a try.
I found an excellent website related to this author too. There's even films (TV) available! If you click on the book titles on the left, you'll find synopsis/reviews/links/info on all the book versions in different languages and direct etailer links!

You don't really have to read them in order but, in case you want to, The Faceless Killer is the 1st Wallander novel.
Happy reading.
