Henning Mankell - Crime novels.
I don't venture in this forum often, but I recently discovered that Swedish author and his crime novels are excellent. They feature a police inspector from the Swedish city of Ystad named Kurt Wallander as he tries to solve murder mysteries. I read two of his novels so far (The Dogs of Riga, One Step Behind) and they are fascinating. Plus they are real page turners! I went to the book store this evening and bought 3 more. I believe there are 9 Wallander novels in all. I personnally found the change (not the usual US, or Paris, or London...) of settings intriguing and refreshing. Fans of the genre should give him a try.
I found an excellent website related to this author too. There's even films (TV) available! If you click on the book titles on the left, you'll find synopsis/reviews/links/info on all the book versions in different languages and direct etailer links! http://www.inspector-wallander.org/ You don't really have to read them in order but, in case you want to, The Faceless Killer is the 1st Wallander novel. Happy reading. :) |
