James Branch Cabell Figures of Earth. It's laugh out loud funny.
I'm also finishing up short stories by Dashiell Hammett.

Just finished about 7 newer Grisham novels that I had never gotten around to - I think I've read all but the newest one now. Boy are they crap compared to his early work. Such quick no-brainer throwaway reads that I couldn't resist however. About 120 pages into Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell. Pretty good so far, but a tad slower than I was expecting.

Last two books I've read:

One of my favorite authors--not a classic like Stop-Time, but still a great book

Well done, Mr. King.

in my bag this week:

And no, it's not about Superman.

Planet Simpson.

Good book. Interesting ideas, but kind of wordy. You can tell he wrote this during the political season. The author injects way too much of his political opinion at random times.

After finishing James Patterson's The Big Bad Wolf, I'm currently reading Ken Follett's Eye of The Needle.

I'm currently reading two books - the fiction is Phoenix Guards by Stephen Brust. I'm reading based on a recommendation by a friend - so far I'm not sure what to think.

For non-fiction i'm reading The Field. It is incredible so far.

This may not be the place to post it but I need help identifying a book.

I read it several years ago and, for the life of me, can't remember the title or author.

Staged in the middle ages (I think), it is about a man who builds cathedrals. He runs into a woman and her son in the woods and ends up marrying her. All kinds of church intrigue with the bishops & what not. The sons become church builders. Drama ensues. People die. Revenge. ??? I don't know.

Vague, but all I can recall.

Sorry for wasting your brain cells.

Just finished "Sister of the Dead" which was pretty intense towards the end. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. I just started "Underworld:Blood Enemy" which is a prequel to the events in the movie UNDERWORLD. So far it's pretty good. It looks like it's going to jump between just before the movie and several hundred years ago before the war between Lycan and Vampire starts.

That would be Pillars of The Earth by Ken Follett. Excellent book, albeit quite long.
