Thanks for the link. I have been waiting "inhumanly patient", to quote another horror film series, for this book.
I pre-ordered, Camp Blood: The Making of Friday the 13th, a month ago.
Who would've thought one, much less TWO, books of the F13 series would see publication.

Now up at Crystal Lake Memories.com....
You can pre-order the book and get it on October 10th (one week before the official release) and have it autographed by the author. It also is a hardcover silver anniversary edition of the book. It's $39.95 but I don't know how to actually pre-order it from that site.

does the "fully illustrated with hundreds of never-before-seen images" include the myriad stills of censored scenes that have graced numerous horror magazine publications.

The site was up at 9am central on the 2nd. I went ahead and bought a copy and it worked, 3 hours before it was supposed to!?! They still apparantly have a few copies left. They aren't going like hotcakes as I thought they would.
Can't wait to read it.

I have this book.
Very well made for any book. Very well set up and just all around a great book. Very honest in it's direction. It does not sugar coat either side. Whatever anyone wants to say, it lets them say it.
Though I do have to say after reading this book. Dana Kimmel has gotten a pretty bad rap over the years for her supposed hatred of the horror genre. She was actually one of the ones who seemed to have a more positive outlook towards it than some of the others.
Rabid fans will not feel so friendly towards heroines such as Kimberly Beck and the guy who plays Chuck after reading this.
Very interesting read for those into the series. Even a very interesting read for movie historians not into the series and other horror fans not into the series.
Reading about the Part 2 spear scene from someone who actually saw it at one time makes it sound very graphic.
Part 5 was a porno in the woods loaded with violence. Though, no big surprise. It still seems like a porno in the woods. Just less porno and less violence.
The tickets sold, money made, & DVD sales was a fun section too. I like knowing about these things.
Though Jason X been the number 2 DVD in the series behind Freddy vs Jason sold is kind of scary. Freddy vs Jason was number 1 by a huge margin with a couple plus million copies of the DVD sold.
Top Three Sold:
Freddy vs Jason
Jason X
The Friday the 13th box set (the one with the first 8)
Individual sequels are pretty far behind the above. Very far behind.

I got my copy of this book on Halloween...weird...
I've gotten all the way through part 5 so far and it's a very well done book. Very informative.
It is also signed by the author and Sean S. Cunningham
Sorry I didn't post before

The author, Peter Bracke is a frequent poster on the F13 forum. Here is what he posted 11/28/05:
Hi all -
Peter Bracke here. While I'm really grateful for all the kind words on the book, I'm frustrated as well with the delays. I do know that all copies ordered by websites/retailers did get shipped by the publisher by the 21st. However, I did find out that Amazon. Barnes & Noble and many others use an intermediary wholesaler instead of placing orders directly from the source. Unfortunately, from what I'm told, it can thus take up to an extra ten days to process wholesaler orders because of the book has to be shipped twice - once from publisher to wholesaler, then wholesaler to Amazon, etc..
I know Sideshow (as well as Borders) orders direct from the publisher, so that is why anyone who ordered theirs that way already received them or they are on their way.
In the future, if there is another edition of the book someday, Sparkplug will be dealing directly with Amazon and skipping the wholesaler step to avoid this problem. Until then, I'm sorry so many have to wait another few days. But they are on the way.
