Finished Thomas Perry's Death Benefits last night. I thought it was a pretty good read even though it took a slight detour into the unknown, regarding Perry.

Just recently finished reading Dan Brown's "The DaVinci Code" which was pretty light reading - very entertaining but not great literature, although I did enjoy some of the scientific and religious items that the author discussed which I had no prior knowledge of. Overall though, I would say it doesn't quite live up to all the hype (or at least not my high expectations for it), but still well worth a read.
Now I'm about half way through Haruki Murakami's "The Wind-up Bird Chronicle" - this guy is one of my favorite authors, and I must say this is shaping up to be his best book that I've read so far. Highly recommended. I can't wait for his "Kafka on the Shore" next year!

I just finished The Bad Place by Dean Koontz. I'm reading The Bone Collector by Jeffery Deaver right now. Next up will probably be Icebound by Koontz. In between I've been reading some of the short stories from Peaceable Kingdom by Jack Ketchum.

I just finished Destiny's Road by Larry Niven. It is a great, quick read that ties sci-fi with low tech.
Also finished Dragon Lance--The Annotated Chronicles which has some great insight in to both the backstory of the characters and insight in to the authors' minds.
I'm now reading A Thousand Orcs by R.A. Salvatore in preparation for the new book coming in October.

DVD Talk Legend
I finished Salem's Lot, very good classic vampire story (in a modern setting). Ended up skipping the Asimov and only read a few short stories from the anthology.
I finished The Grid by Philip Kerr last night. Pretty disappointing Crichton-like techno thriller.
Just picked up Clancy's The Sum of All Fears. I've read the earlier Jack Ryan books several years ago and decided to pickup the series again, mostly because I didn't find any other inspiration when browsing.
I also got The Wreck of the River of Stars by Michael Flynn. All I know is that it's an SF book. I don't recognize the author and was looking for something new to get.

Go for it!! It's a wonderful book to read -- totally reels you in, and of course, much better than the movie!

I'm almost finished he Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay by Michael Chabon. I've enjoyed it a lot. It's interesting to read something that has an interest in comics. I can see why Chabon would contribute to the Spiderman screenplay now.

Finally decided to read Bram Stoker's Dracula. Seemed silly that I'd read dozens of other vampire books without reading the original. The pages are flying by... it's really making me want to watch my Bram Stoker's Dracula DVD again.
