"Story of the Eye"

I think that's the title.

Anyway, has anyone here read this book? I hear it's a book filled with "Extreme Erotica" and being a huge fan of Bjork I found out it's supposed to be one of her favorite books. In fact, her "Venus as a Boy" video supposedly has references to the book. One being the egg she holds in the video and how she rubs it sensually over her face

I would like to hear from those who've read it.

I read it. It's a semi-ridiculous book, but is worth the read as long as you realize there is going to be a lot of things that make you say, 'WTF?' every now and then.

If you set out to read this book expecting it to be great literature and a great story, you're going to be disappointed. If you're reading it as an adventure to see what it's about, it's worthwhile.

Wow, what a random thread!

This is absolutely, positively and without a doubt the filthiest and most perverse book I have ever read.

I loved it.

Not just for some 'shock' factor but because it destroys the line between porn (or more accurately, SADOporn) and literary art, once and for all. I think it's impossible to deny how beautifully it is written by Georges Bataille, even translated into English--but the content is so in-your-face outrageous, so repugnant, it creates a tension in the reader which is impossible to ignore.

Only for very adventurous readers, and the Bjork connection is not suprising.

Thanks. I think I'll check it out.
