I'm not so sure about that cover. Roland doesn't look very rough for the journey he has been through since he was 14. Kind of .. eh.

I finally started in on Song of Susannah last night - off to a great start thus far.

Furthermore, I like the cover to Dark Tower VII. Much better than VI, which IMO, is the worst cover of the series.

I agree about the cover of SoS, I like the German cover only slightly more:

Here's book 7:

If they weren't printed in German I'd go and buy them!

BTW, I didn't realize until I finished SoS but DT7 is being released on King's birthday.

I enjoyed it but did not catch the warning about Kings spoiler at the end of the book. I didn't care for the ending that much, not as bad as Blaine but with the foreshadowing mentioned earlier I wish he had gone another chapter or two. Looking forward to the final installment and can't wait to see how it all comes together.

The location of Black 13 also gives me mixed feelings and there are a few other things about the book that keep it from being the best in the series.
Spoiler:
I'm suprised that roland does not look more like King given the he and Roland are supposed to be nearly twins.

I didn't like Kind dying in his where, and would have prefered at least Jake/Callahan meet up with Roland by the end of the book.

As much happend in this installment I felt the plot did not move forward enough for the volume.

Despite that I could not put the book down.

Just finished.

Spoiler:
I thought it was kinda smarmy that King put himself in the book. A man can only have so many references to a car accident, lots of people get hit by cars Steve-o, get over it. The WTC storage was over the top. I am very glad that it wasn't in verse like a song as suggested mistakenly by James W. Powell on page one. Big "whew" on that.

It was nice to advance the story and I liked the book a lot. The animals at the Pig was very creepy. I thought the artwork was lacking this time. Bring on VII.

Gack, I thought the cliffhanger in Vol. 5 couldn't be topped, but
Spoiler:
Stephen King is dead
is a pretty decent one... Ack, c'mon, Volume 7!

I finished it on Sunday.

Since
Spoiler:
stephen king is dead
, does that mean that they really
Spoiler:
aren't in the real world as they suspect? Just another aspect of his mind? i.e. level of the tower?

I also thought that the artwork was weak, save for the images of King and Susannah. I also felt that this was an intentional cliffhanger and could have gone on for another 100-200 pages. I enjoyed
Spoiler:
king in the story, and references to his accident. Metaphor? Death of the wordslinger and not the man himself? He has said he hasn't been the same since (writing wise).

I really enjoyed it though.

The image of the actual dark tower looks much more banal on the cover of Book VII than Michael Whelan's phantasmagoric take on it from the cover of Book I...I wonder what motivated him to alter it's appearance (Roland's vision of what the dark tower would look like versus the actual reality perhaps?)...kind of a bummer...
