I love this book!

The whole history of Journey is here - how the band started, how Steve ended up with them (wild story!), when they broke up, got back together, and more!

It's like a marathon Behind The Music episode.

The chapter about the real meaning behgind the song Loving, Touching, Squeezing is worth the price of the book itself!

Rock on!

muggins 10-23-03 04:30 PM

I only have a few books that are signed by the author, and none of them are really popular.

Serving Them Right signed by Laura Liswood
Population and World Power signed by Katherine Organski
The End of a Golden Age: Higher Education in a Steady State signed by Edward Gross

I'm sure I have a few more, but I just can't find them among my collection at the moment.

By the way, stop leaving messages on my phone and singing that you'll come to me with open arms.

only one..

"The Serpent and the Rainbow" signed by Wade Davis. He came to my university on a lecture tour to speak on voodoo, etc and signed some books afterward.

darkside 10-24-03 11:23 PM

Lies and the Lying Liars etc signed by Al Franken. Nice guy.

retihsuhnt 11-06-03 11:33 AM

Off the top of my head I can think of only two (2) books that I have signed:

Under the Banner of Heaven: A Story of Violent Faith by Jon Krakauer (1st Edition) -- personalized

Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them: A Fair and Balanced Look at the Right by Al Franken

The one (1) book I would love to get signed is All's Fair: Love, War, and Running for President by James Carville & Mary Matalin.

cracksky 11-06-03 01:51 PM

Aside from all of the limited edition books I have from Stephen King that are signed I have a few others of note:

The first Far Side collection signed by Gary Larson (when it was released)
A Bloom County book signed by Berkley Breathed
The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy books signed by Douglas Adams
Secret Strangers signed by Thomas Tessier

Crocker Jarmen 11-07-03 04:03 AM

While I read this thread, it occured to me that the only signed books I have are of the comic strip variation (not that there's anything wrong with that). I have Ed The Happy Clown by Chester Brown, The Poor Bastard by Joe Matt, and a For Better of For Worse collection by Lynn Johnson. Also, several years back I bought an issue of American Splendar (the one with Crumb's fresh bread story) and after a couple of months I noticed that it had been signed by Harvey Pekar inside the front cover.

JestersTear 11-07-03 03:08 PM

Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman (personalized)
Good Omens by Neil Gaiman (1st edition hardcover)
Angels & Visitations by Neil Gaiman (1st edition limited hardcover)
Kiss and Makeup by Gene Simmons

The 3 Gaiman ones were obtained by me and are personalized, the Simmons one was obtained for my by a friend at one of the 3 tour stops of Simmons to promote the book.

Then there's WAY too many comics to list that I have signed.

Peter David will be at the spring Motor Ciry Comic Convention next year, so I'll be getting a lot of novels and comics signed then as well.

A Wish for Wings That Work - Berke Breathed

Also a for a good place to pickup signed books without all the jacked up prices of ebay checkout http://www.olssons.com/cgi-cart/signed.pl

They do a ton of signings here in the DC area and usually sell leftover signed copies for a decent price.

I'm jealous, especially of the DeMille autograph. Did you get to talk with him much? Did he take questions or just sit and sign? Just curious what he was like. Actually its funny you have Dan Brown listed there as well, because he lists Plum Island as one of his favorite books on his web site.
