So has anyone else finished Dark Knight Strikes again 3 yet? I found it a major dissapointment unfortunately. The art was most unpleasant to look at and the plot befuddling.
Does anyone have a different opinion on it? Is this the last finale to the story?

I don't mind the art being unpleasant. For the most part, Miller has always drawn "unpleasantly".
My biggest problem with the images was the computer coloring. Varely is one of the best painter/colorists out there and this series looks extremely experimental. Like it was her first effort with computer coloring. Perfect it before doing something as high profile as DK2.

Read this last night.
I think I need to reread the whole series together because I'm not sure there was even a coherent message in there.
And some of the writing was so polemic...it's like he couldn't figure out how to present his thoughts in an interesting or graphic manner, and just filled up the pages with really bad speeches.
Well, I guess you can't hit one out of the park every time.
The art was pretty ugly too, but I'm guessing that was part of the point.

About the only thing the diehard fans over at Comicon's message board can figure out is that Miller was trying to make fun of the original DKR. I don't buy it. I think Miller took a huge check from DC (because he knew he could), slapped together some shoddy work (because he knew he could), and turned it in late (because he knew he could). And we all bought it (just like he knew we would). Joke's on us.
Either that or Miller has gone over to the Grant Morrison school of writing while spaced out on drugs.

I re-read the last issue and I couldn't find anything to make me change my opinion unfortunately. I'm not sure what was up with Hal Jordan or why he looked like Gumbi either. I am not up on DC history but why was he the size of Jupiter in this?

Well I liked it. (Emphasis on liked). It's not a patch on The Dark Knight. However, the art started to pull together in DK2 - 3. I remain convinced that Klaus Janson should have been involved. Overall, 5/6 out of 10.

wow. now DKR#3 is something I completely didn't expect. Miller's art has gone from good "sketchy" to just plain a mess. it really looks like he's not trying hard.

I heard that the estate of Wonder Woman wouldn't let Miller write something so he had to go back and rewrite part of the story before they'd allow it to go to print. Wonder Woman pretty much had absolutely no part in DK2 #3.
The book did seem to have a lot of "fillers" in it. All of the random rantings from the Bat Chicks (or whatever they were called), and all of the fans and TV stations. I could definitely have done without that. If he'd chopped all that out, the book would've only been about 25 pages long.
I generally liked the story, but just would've liked a little more depth to some of it. I didn't realize that this was the last book in the series either. I was hoping for a longer run.
