The though that kept occurring to me was why didn't he just buy a ticket on Amtrak or Greyhound? Speedy told him not to take a plane; but I don't remember anything about trains or buses. Since he hitched rides, I assume they'd be OK. Although, then what kind of story would that have been?

The book seemed in a lot of ways to be a tribute to Lord of the Rings. They refer to it a few times in the storyline, but the layout of the book itself is a near match. The way they name chapters, etc.. I think I picked that up this time because I'd just finished LOTR last month.

I was sad when Wolf died, I'd forgotten about that. But one thing that's always stuck with me since I originally read it was the pee on the popcorn. I've never had fake butter on my popcorn since!
