Does anybody know what book this is?

I was reluctant to post this since some threads get hits while others seem to die quickly. I do remember some stuff except for the author and title (obviously).

I manly read historical fiction books about WWII i.e Jack Higgins.
The story is about a chest that is buried deep in a lake in Austria. It was put there by the Nazi's during the final days of the war. It begins with somebody finding and raising the box, but is killed pretty quickly. The story also revolves around the "Alpine Redoubt" legend from the last days of the war. The book tells the story that the fortress was actually constructed or at least partially. After that, I don't remember much.

For a long time I thought it was The Odessa Files, but I was wrong.

Has anybody read this book?

Thanks.

It does seem familiar.
