Right now I'm reading Plato's Republic for philosophy class.

Well, you have my sympathy. I remember being chastised by a bookstore owner when I went to look for the Cliff's notes to that one. She said I needed to read it myself, and I didn't know how to tell her I already had (twice) and still didn't get it.

I finished Lord of the Rings in late August. It's a great read. Since school started back I haven't had much time to read anything that I actually want to read, outside of plays for my Shakespeare class. So far I've read:

A Mid-Summer Night's Dream
Antony and Cleopatra
Measure for Measure

and we're currently on Richard II

Stinger by Robert McCammon.

When I finish this, I will have read everything there is by this author. I have enjoyed most of his work. It is really too bad that he stopped writing.

Yep, I thought the ending to the book was much better than the ending to the movie. I was impressed that the movie remained so true to the book up until that point. Sure, there were a few differences, but some scenes from the movie seemed to have dialog and sequencing lifted right from the pages.

Definitely a good read.

Plato's Republic is one of my favorite books, although I haven't read it in awhile. I'll add my own 'shame on you' for getting the Cliff's notes version

I'm reading "Boy's Life" by Robert R McCammon. I just grabbed it at a thrift store since I enjoyed "Swan Song" so much, and have been taken aback by how good this book is. I am really having trouble putting it down and his style often leaves me rereading passages just to enjoy the beauty of his writing again and again. I really recommend picking this one up, the title threw me a bit but I am very glad I didn't judge this book by its cover

Boy's Life is one of the best horror novels I've ever read.

Right now I'm reading Cordelia's Honor by Lois McMaster Bujold. It's really two books under one cover (Shards of Honor and Barrayar.) Really good so far--I wish all space opera were like this.
