Xytraguptorh 07-03-01 06:57 PM

In no particular order:

The Ceremonies by T.E.D. Klein

Sacrifice by John Farris

Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky--Before I read this, I thought that this type of novel could only be enjoyed by stick-up-the-ass types who wear turtleneck sweaters and hang out at coffee shops. Nothing could be further from the truth. This book is so unpretentious and easily readable, and it's a shame that people (well, me anyway) automatically assume that it's going to be boring and difficult to read. Other nineteenth century Russian novels read the same way, but this is my favorite. And(I hope) I'm just a normal guy, not some pompous ass who only reads "literature", so I think most people would like it.

I'm probably just a dick, but anyone else get totally annoyed whenever someone mentions that "Catcher in the Rye" is one of their favorite books? It's such a trendy answer & the most overrated book ever written IMO.

Anyway my top 3. . . .

1. Musashi - Eiji Yoshikawa : By far my favorite book of all-time. It's sad this is on nobody's list.

2. Princess of Mars - Edgar Rice Burroughs: My favorite book ever as a kid.
